6 weeks of vacation to start as an RN :D

Ok so technically I get 4 weeks of vacation time to start as a new grad at my hospital BUT on my unit we do 2D2N then 5 days off...so by combining my 5 days off, taking 4 consecutive vacation days and then my next 5 days off I get a total of 14 days off by using only four work days! This is great, I get a total of 42 days off work by doing this a year as a new graduate RN. I am so excited!!! It ends up feeling like I get 6 weeks to start!

Wow! I think even four weeks vacation is awesome! I only get one!

Yea I live in Canada...I don't know how the States work for vacation for RN's but at least in my province we get 144 hours of vacation time per year, starting your first year. It goes all the way up to 9 weeks of vacation time (but thats only like after working for 25+ years) but...if your schedule is like mine then you really can take advantage of it and get 12 weeks off work if you schedule it the right way. Its pretty sweet.

What is wrong with US employers??? I get 2 weeks, but take lots of unpaid time because I'd go nuts if I didn't. You are indeed fortunate.

Wow!! That's awesome! I get 208 hrs vacation per year but that's only 5.2 weeks. Enjoy your new job and your vacation time.

i get 262.5 hours (or 7 weeks *37.5hours) of annual leave as does anyone working in the nhs rising after 5 years. partime workers get 7 weeks * weekly hours etc.

it comes from 27 days a/l stanard + 7 public holidays

In the US, you get diddly squat unless you work for the government.

I work for the government as a RN...we get 5 weeks of annual leave/year and 2.5 weeks of sick leave/year. We get 8 hours of AL and 4 hours of SL a pay period.

And if you have a fair nurse manager you get to take leave as long as the unit is covered.
