General Chemistry

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Is it too much to take it during the Summer? I have all the time in the world, but I haven't been in school for 4 years, but my counselor recommended General Chemistry because of my math grades.

Chemistry is one of my favorite subjects b/c of math! I love mathematics! I also love Physics 1 (not 2, ugh) lol

I'm taking Chemistry in the summer as well. I was a little nervous until I actually found some sample quizzes from a different teacher for the same class at the school I'm going to. I tried a few questions from the sample quizzes on various chapters and I was able to solve them correctly. It has been many (many, many) years since I've taken chemistry but it seems like a lot of it is if you know basic concepts of chemistry, how to do conversions, etc, then it shouldn't be too hard of a class to master. I'm sure once I get into the class, it won't be as easy as it seems but I think it is pretty doable in the summer.

I took chemistry last summer after not being in a classroom for 22 years. I loved it, and I got an A. I liked that the class was only 8 weeks. Like someone said earlier, less time between beginning of class and finals to forget things.

But, there were some in my class that really struggled. They weren't serious students, and in a summer class, you need to be.

As far as the cruise, I do understand your desire, but if you're going to school, you should probably focus on school. Missing a week can be horrible for you. There is so much material covered in a week of class, that I truly can't imagine missing a whole week.

From personal experience, I find that summer classes are always easier. People compain about so much being shoved into a short amount of time, but the professors are usually a bit more lax as well, not too much more, but a bit to where it would make a difference in your grade. But that's just my personal experience, and this may change from professor to professor.

I agree with SuperMeghan, I think summer classes are easier, especially if you get to just focus on the one class. One class over 8 weeks is still easier than 4 classes over 16 weeks...

I'm only taking one or two classes at a time. I don't need a lot of classes.

I am just finishing up my general chem class and think it would be a great class for over the summer. especially if you're good in math like i am. For taking it in the spring, we had a test like every 4 weeks and spent a lot of time on the material so to take it in the summer it would be a little more fast-paced but still extremely comfortable. I say go for it! :)

I've also been deciding on becoming a nurse or Registered Dietitian. I really enjoy health and exercise too. I probably have too many interests.
