Anybody else going to be applying? I'm a long shot because I'm applying without all my courses completed, they will be done in the Spring.
ICULINDA, thanks for the heads up! Does that 20% discount just come off of the total tuition charges every semester? I am a contracted employee at Chandler Regional Medical Center so I wonder if I would be eligible for the discount. Also can you choose either the discount or scholarship every semester or does that choice stay the same throughout your time at GCU once you choose? For what I was told when I went to GCU is it was off each semester. You can only choose one option before you start and that option stays throughout your time. Ask for a breakdown of the 20% and one for the scholarship. The discount is a good opinion for people who may not be able to keep grades high enough for the big scholarship. I know at one point GCU would give a $2,000 one time discount if you worked for a hospital but then changed it to 20%. I swear it felt like every advisor, including finical advisor would tell me something different or I would learn something new each time I take to them. I use to actually read the handbook fine print and all for info.

good question!! ICULINDA: i am curious if you know this - if we get a job while in the program will it apply, or is it just an initial thing where we'd have to be employed now (at the application time)..[/quote']As far as I know it's an initial thing. I personally think it should apply at anytime :)
I also did tuition reimbursement with my employer. After my loan paid the school I showed my employer my statement and grades and got a check:) most hospitals or healthcare employers do this as well. With my facility we had to be employees a minimum of 90 days and we were eligible.
Oh for anyone that works for a healthcare facility check if they have a medical library. If they do find out about getting off campus access usually the hospitals have all the reference and journal website you will need for school. And ask about checking out books. I only purchased my med surg book throughout school. The rest of the time I used the ebook through the medical library for free or I would check the book out and return at the end of semester. Saved me a ton of money. Believe it or not the hospital medical libraries have all the new nursing books for school. And my facility use to give away books when new additions arrived. The books were free! I ended up with a lot of great books for school. I'm all about free resources and ways to save money. :)
ICULINDA, thank you so much for all the great tips! I never thought about checking out books from the medical library! I was planning on getting as many e-books as possible on my ipad because the thought of carrying all those huge books around sounds awful, but if I can rent a book for free I would make an exception
I don't understand why everyone is so worried about the TEAS. They have changed it to HESI and even though it has all the sections they do not have a min score. So what it means is that you basically can get a low score and if your GPA is good, you will still get in. I think GCU is desperate to get students in because of the cost. A lot of students go for Community Colleges.

Hi Juliana,
I know I have been freaked out about the TEAS because of how little information I have been given about the HESI. I keep getting different answers from people at the college. They have known about the change for a while but, nobody can give me a straight forward answer. Its just annoying. I Found the information in the hand book about the no min score.... so I just want to know how that's going to work. since people who take the TEAS before 1/31 will be grandfathered in...you know what I mean?
But if you have a better contact at GCU I WOULD LOVE TO TALK TO THEM! LOL But that's why im freaked out. :-)
Ladies if you're a single mother or not legally married message me. I have info that can help u pay for school.
I can not personal message yet. I am suppose to have a number of posts to do so. I am not leaggally married and I do have three children. So i would like to know the many different ways to pay for school.
Ahhhhh I can't wait!! I read the other forum and it seemed like people got them 1 day prior to expected. So fingers crossed maybe it'll be Feb 14 late night! Good luck everyone. I really appreciate you guys communicating on the forum (new and old) this is the only valid, inside, first hand information I could find on nursing programs and I truly hope I can help advise others on here along their way.
Sorry if I'm repeating myself, who is going for St. Joes?
