GCU Summer 2015 hopefuls!

Published

Hello GCU summer applicants!

I figured someone else would have started a thread by now, but since they haven't I figured I would since the deadline is approaching in less than 2 weeks! I just wanted to know how everyone's application experience is going so far? Hopefully we can answer each others questions and this thread can serve as a place to share experiences especially while waiting for decisions.

I have my background check completed, my fingerprinting is in process, and I'm taking the HESI this week. I am super nervous!

I can't wait to hear from any of you who are applying! Don't be shy :) and good luck everyone!

I'm an ASU student and I believe the 12 month one is for RN to BSN.

It's not as hard to get in as people make it seem. They calculate an advancement score based on your gpa and your teas test results. It's a score between 1 and 2 and a 1.600 is considered competitive. I have a 1.769. My gpa is a 3.67 and I got an 84.7 on the teas so don't count yourselves out because the lowest advancement score to get in last year was 1.71 so that person got either a lower gpa and/or teas than I did :) asu can definitely still be an optio

@amber307, I sent you a PM to get more info. You seem very knowledgeable and I am definitely considering ASU for next Spring.

I just replied Maycation :)

Just curious, who here is going to be keeping their app in for fall?

I'm going to let my application roll over, because its worth a shot at least. I definitely feel horribly slighted by what they've pulled with the summer session, but I'd much rather graduate next year than the following with the CEP program even if the chance of getting in to GCU is incredibly slim. I'm in the same boat as Maycation with the ASU stuff, just not sure if my GPA is high enough, I have a 3.5something. Amber307 I'd love a PM too with any extra info!

Yes you need to be on wl in order to apply because you can't get a spot for the information session until your on wl and you can't get a spot for the cep application unless you have gone to the information session.

PM me! I was explaining to Maycation that it's not as tough as you'd think and they only look at a select gpa with only certain classes :-)

Once you are on the wait list and apply to the CEP program and get accepted, they pull you from the wait list and you start the next start date

For those of you applying to the CEP and keeping your app in, which would you choose if you got into both?

Despite the BS they've put us through, the shakiness of the program, and the cost, I'd pick GCU because I could finish a year earlier and doing classes at St. Joes/one of the satellite hospitals is a great networking opportunity.

At this point, CEP. I have a friend that is going to GCU and she told me if she were me she would apply to ASU because GCU is really messed up right now.

GCU would have to do A LOT of convincing to make me feel confident enough to attend their school and give them thousands of dollars.

Hi Ladies!

I'm a new member of this site, but have been looking at the boards for a while now to see what boat everyone else is in. I too applied for GCU for the Spring 2015 start but was put on the alternate list (I was number 34 on the list). I was very upset, that I did not get in after they made it seems as long as you scored really well on the HESI and had a good GPA you would get in. I decided to apply for the CEP program with NAU for the summer 2015 start, and I got in to Gateway CEP program. It's not as hard as it seems to get into the program...I was told it was one of the biggest application pools they had and the majority of the people were applying for NAU(They take about 200 students for NAU each semester). My GPA is a 3.57 and I scored a 80% on the math and a 95% on the english for the HESI. My advice is to get on the wait list for Maricopa and attend the information session for the CEP program. If you decide to go through with an application session, you hear if you got into the program pretty quickly (I think it was about 2 weeks for us to find out). Everyone has been extremely helpful and we constantly get emails bringing us update to date. I always felt like I was in the dark with GCU knowing what was going on and could never get a hold of anyone, even after leaving messages all the time. If anyone has any question please feel free to message me!

Manda30 wow!! I loved your post. Full of positivity about CEP! Im applying Friday for the Maricopa nursing wait list and then attending my CEP infosession on April 30th at Estrella. The CEP application session is June 2 so based on what you said and what my friend has said, I should know before then end of June. That's so awesome! I'm getting excited now.
