GCU Summer 2015 hopefuls!

Published

Hello GCU summer applicants!

I figured someone else would have started a thread by now, but since they haven't I figured I would since the deadline is approaching in less than 2 weeks! I just wanted to know how everyone's application experience is going so far? Hopefully we can answer each others questions and this thread can serve as a place to share experiences especially while waiting for decisions.

I have my background check completed, my fingerprinting is in process, and I'm taking the HESI this week. I am super nervous!

I can't wait to hear from any of you who are applying! Don't be shy :) and good luck everyone!

Segrace, who is your adviser if you don't mind me asking? I feel torn because I'm so close to a 3.6, but I don't know is a 3.57 is quite up there.

There's just too many ifs and risks to be honest

I kinda want to make Facebook page for all us GCU potentials....I know some of you will choose other options, but for those of us who are still going to give Fall 2015 a shot, I think it'd be cool to have a space where we can all keep each other updated

I'm also kinda over GCU. I heard they were having problems with their accreditation from friends that go there. They might lose it or have already lost it. Losing their accreditation would be horrible. If we graduated from there (a school that isn;t accredited) we would lose job opportunities and for those of us planning on furthering our education we wouldn't be able to apply to most programs. The accreditation thing is speculation, but I have heard it from a lot of people. Maybe this is just a blessing in disguise.

Accreditation doesn't have to be an issue of speculation as it can easily be looked into. Here is the accreditation page for all BSN degree programs in AZ. It looks as if they are up for renewal in the next year though.

Desertlady, what campus are you from?

I went to the nursing info session last week and the nursing advisor said that nursing programs are changing A LOT this year so DesertLady may be right. I just, I'm just confused now.

Hmm I wonder what she means by they're chaning

She said that the schooling we get now is going to be a lot different than say the school our moms, dads, aunts Etc went to.

I think it may have been something about them being worried that it wouldn't be renewed. And then they have the Arizona BON, who determines if your students can sit in for the NCLEX and my friends said that students had complained to the BON about their unhappiness with the program. That seems stupid to me because who would want to put their own program at risk? Could it be that bad? All this mess makes me really afraid. I'm sure it will be fine. I thought that about the summer program too though.

I am sure there are people complaining about what they have done to all of us as well so that makes it even a little more scary.

Remember when everyone on here thought the summer program was going to get cancelled? And we all emailed our advisors, VPs of the school ect., and they assured us that it wouldn't be? We asked them straight up if there was a possibility it would get cancelled so that we could start to look into other options? And they said "Oh no, that would never happen, we are just short staffed, wait for the decision." Well our speculation was correct, and that really scares me. All this speculation about accreditation and changes could be true. Why won't GCU just be honest with us? We aren't just numbers, we are real people with lives trying to make the best decisions for ourselves and for our futures. What they have done to us is so cruel, but they have the opportunity to clear up some of these rumors and be completely transparent in the future. So why aren't they doing it?
