GCU Summer 2015 hopefuls!

Published

Hello GCU summer applicants!

I figured someone else would have started a thread by now, but since they haven't I figured I would since the deadline is approaching in less than 2 weeks! I just wanted to know how everyone's application experience is going so far? Hopefully we can answer each others questions and this thread can serve as a place to share experiences especially while waiting for decisions.

I have my background check completed, my fingerprinting is in process, and I'm taking the HESI this week. I am super nervous!

I can't wait to hear from any of you who are applying! Don't be shy :) and good luck everyone!

They should put summer applicants on the priority list for the Fall, if there even is going to be a fall... If they get rid of the satellite campuses, how many people are going to lose their jobs? I don't know why the Dean of Nursing left, but if she had to deal with these people who are currently running things, I would leave too.

She was an amazing person and is deeply missed, her and all the staff that left.

Desertlady,

Thanks so much for your insight. Do you know why she left? :(

No I don't know why, we are just all left to speculate. Most of us think the issues are from way above the nursing program itself. From the higher ups in the university. But I cannot emphasize enough that it is all speculation. We really don't know anything.

Bottom line is they should have informed us immediately once she left and had any doubts about the summer program. Period. It makes me sick that institutions think they can do this to people.

Ah, okay I see..

Well, I just spoke with the director of admissions for transfer students into the nursing program and he explained that all of the applicants who applied to summer, their apps were simply moved up to apply for Fall 2015. How many of you guys are direct transfer students. That's what I am.

He explained that it is going to be extremely difficult for all of us direct transfer students because we will literally be the last of the pick if they have spaces open. His exact words were "To put it nicely so I don't waste anyone's time, if your gpa is below a 3.5....I would highly encourage you to look at other alternatives elsewhere" :(

My gpa is a 3.57 prereq.

So basically it is kind of screwing all transfers over, and everyone in general because it's going to be more competitive for fall overall :(

Will anyone here still be applying for fall?

I agree that stringing you all along like this is flat out wrong. :(

Deserylady, what campus are you from?

My GPA is a 3.67 for all my biologies and a 3.9 overall including other prereqs. I honestly don't know how I feel about that. I feel blindsided by a school that is supposed to be on my side. So...idk

It's another stressful waiting game. I'm doing what I need to for the CEP program at Estrella. If there won't be a fast track option and it's just going to be a traditional route then if probably choose CEP because it's cheaper and I'd be graduating at the same time

Are we picked first before fall applicants or are we treated the same as if we applied at the same time?

Great gpa. My science gpa is like 3.31 :(

I was told they are keeping the fast track for Fall at all the different campuses.

But that it will be more competitive since many applicants for summer will now be applying for fall
