GCU Summer 2015 hopefuls!

Published

Hello GCU summer applicants!

I figured someone else would have started a thread by now, but since they haven't I figured I would since the deadline is approaching in less than 2 weeks! I just wanted to know how everyone's application experience is going so far? Hopefully we can answer each others questions and this thread can serve as a place to share experiences especially while waiting for decisions.

I have my background check completed, my fingerprinting is in process, and I'm taking the HESI this week. I am super nervous!

I can't wait to hear from any of you who are applying! Don't be shy :) and good luck everyone!

When are fall applicants supposed to know if they got in?

The application deadline is May 15 so probably in June

So our applications are automatically being moved to Fall 2015 but there's no point because transfer students are barely even being considered? Why even bother if that's the case? Guess I'll move forward with the CEP program and save $25k. It'll only be a semester difference at that point.

Yeah I feel like they made it very clear they weren't going to have any room for transfers. what good does it do to roll our applications over unless they plan on giving us some sort of priority?

Yeah, it truly is a slap in the face for transfer students :(

What campuses were you guys hoping for?

I applied for Banner Boswell

Does anyone know about how many applications they average per year including both current/transfer students?

I would recommend applying to ASU's Spring program. I've already applied to their fall program.

Does ASU have a fall accelerated program? I know the spring deadline is September. I have a BS already so I don't know if I'm eligible for their non-accelerated program. I also think I might not be competitive enough, my gpa is a solid 3.5-6.

For transfer students, I don't think it will be so hard to get in if you are applying to a satellite campus Fast-Track. From what I understand, most current GCU students want to stay on the main campus and they want to go the traditional route (most of them probably didn't even apply for the summer). With that being said, it will just be a lot more transfers fighting for fewer spots. I don't think we are doomed, but I think we should all have back-up plans as well, especially if your prereq GPA is on the lower end.

My advisor said lower than a 3.6, but she also said that they weren't canceling the summer program. So you should probably take that with a grain of salt.

I'm also kinda over GCU. I heard they were having problems with their accreditation from friends that go there. They might lose it or have already lost it. Losing their accreditation would be horrible. If we graduated from there (a school that isn;t accredited) we would lose job opportunities and for those of us planning on furthering our education we wouldn't be able to apply to most programs. The accreditation thing is speculation, but I have heard it from a lot of people. Maybe this is just a blessing in disguise.
