GCU Fall 2015 **ALTERNATES**

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hey guys,

I was wondering if there were any other GCU alternates out there! Are any of you current GCU students? Transfers? Do any of you know what is going on with this? Like the rankings and placement potential. This really took me by surprise. I hope we can figure this out together. I don't want to get my hopes up like I have been with GCU.

This is awful. I feel like they are dragging us through the mud. We are obviously the top transfers with the highest GPAs and HESI scores, yet they seem to not want us when I feel like any other school would. They should have just told us no transfers. They keep pushing us away and then pulling us back in.

So what are our options, now??

My advisor said that there was no chance for transfers. We are at the back of the list and there are tons of GCU students on it. Originally they were going to rank us on our stats like they said in the email, but then they realized that all the transfers would be in front of their students. They obviously couldn't let that happen!!!

What evidence do you have for this very serious accusation?

I think we all pretty much heard this from one source or another yesterday as seen by others who posted about it. Basically they only take the top 20 off the alternate list, but they have 50 GCU students on it ahead of transfers, leaving the transfers basically no chance. Very upsetting.

You're accusing them of giving preference to lesser students.

You're also claiming that becuz you saw it on tha internet, it must be true.

So basically you're publicly accusing them of dishonest practices with no proof. Hope they can't link your username to your real name, because I can't imagine internet slander will move you up on the list.

I was told by my advisor that gcu students have preference even if their credentials aren't as impressive.

@Red Kryptonite, CNA Why are you harassing people on here? The school said that they take preference of their own students over that of transfer students. That is not a dishonest practice? And they have sent us emails in the past about it. These emails are available to see on other threads. Are you applying to GCU or are you just trolling the thread? Please stop harassing people.

I was told selection goes as follows:

Gcu students who have been there a few semesters, then gcu students who have been for one semester but have not yet received grades and then transfer students. They look at the first group and accept all students who meet minimum requirements. Then the second group all students who meet minimum requirements. Finally, if any spots are left the transfers who meet minimum requirements will be chosen. This same structure applies to constructing the alternate list.

I started at GCU as a Freshman and left after they gave me the run around and screwed me over. Ask any GCU Advisor, and they'll tell you: they give first preference to current GCU students. It's not a dishonest practice when it is clearly spelled out on many documents.

@Maycation: That's how I feel, too. I was also told not to even bother to submit my application. I had to tell him several times to do it since I had already paid for everything and taken the Hesi.

@Melle27 same! I kind of knew there was no chance, but I thought maybe they would wise up and potentially want to increase their stats. I really was not encouraged to apply.

Anyone get an alternate rank email, yet?
