I just got a call asking me if I am still interested in their program. I applied last October and did not get into January program. They will be sending letters in a couple of weeks. Anybody else got a call?
you may know, or if anyone else knows, i know i have been accepted. my letter says we will get all our info, books, etc at orientation.so, am i already registered for class or do i need to do that? did you get an add/ drop form with your letter? if you did you need to go and register and pay for your class before class starts so that you aren't dropped. if you are using financial aide you just need to get a waiver so they set aside your fees until your funds post. if you didn't get an add/drop form email j.
i know books and uniforms will be paid for later, when we get them. you can get your books and lab kit usually the day of orientation, go to the book store and tell them what program you are in and they will help you get everything you need. $500 i think i paid. you'll get information on the uniforms at orientation and you don't need them right away so don't worry about it, they come in in plenty of time for sim day.
but, what about classes/labs? just not sure how that works. what do you mean exactly?
so, what clinicals do you do second semester? is it ltc again? no its the hospital this semester except for peds, then its hacienda.
aww, the quote button is working again. i did email j and she said we don't have to do anything until orientation. that is going to be one hectic week!!
i have a blackberry pearl and was thinking about getting the taber's dictionary download. is that something you used at all? there are few downloads like drug guides etc. just wondering if it is worth it to download.
I didn't use Taber's you get a drug guide with your book packet and the internet was helpful, but its all up to you on the extras! I bought a bunch of random stuff and still do for school and research and stuff.
They seem to be doing things a little different this semester and giving you the forms at orientation thats good! But yea, just remember there will be a drug test you don't have much time to do after orientation.
Hello! I got into the night program at Gateway and I am very excited! I have a question for those of you who have already taken classes at Gateway. How many hours per week do you spend on studying? I am just trying to prepare myself and make arrangements for daycare for my son. Thank you so much! And congrats to all of you who made it in!

Its so hard to say how much time you need to spend, it all depends on how effective your study techniques are. I spent about an hour or two every other night and on Wed I would outline the chapter reading, others spent hours upon hours and others crammed the night before a test.
Each style was effective in its own way, some had to learn a whole new style and it took them well into the program to get the hang of it. But each came out with pretty great grades in the end!
Just rememember anything less than a 76% is failing and an A is a 93% and above! (and they don't round)
In good news I don't think we lost but 1 or 2 people come finals time.

Viktorija101,
What hours did your schedule say you will be in class, lab, clinicals, etc? I put the evening option as my ONLY option, as I have to work full time. However, I will be in class M-W from 2-6 and then in september when clinicals start, Mondays are from 6:45 am to 7:15pm.
Just curious to see if I am in the evening or day program. On my acceptance it said I was accepted into the "afternoon" program.
Congrats on getting in!
The evening program that starts in August of 09' is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00pm to 8:30pm, and then all day Saturday. I am not sure of the times for Satuday but somewhere on my schedule is says that it is from 6:45am to 7:15pm. I am not sure that those times will be for every Saturday (I am hoping not!) but it may be.

Hmmmm, interesting, so I DIDN'T get into the evening class. Weird as that is what I put as my only option. However, I am just glad I got in. Thankfully my boss (my dad) is willing to work with me on the hours. It would have been nice though to have the evening.
It sounds like your Saturdays will be clinicals, as those are the same hours as my Mondays starting 9/14. NOT looking forward to getting up at 4am to be able to get to clinicals on time...yuck!
The only way you can do that is if someone at orientation argrees to switch.... if someone decides not to take a spot they generally have someone waiting in the wings to take the spot and there aren't many options to be switched.
Of course that is how it was last semester but you never know.

I am just going to leave as is. I think it is better anyway as I have Saturdays open to study. At least it is later in the day so I can work in the mornings.

You know what? I just pulled out my letter and it does say that we will get registration information at orientation. So, I am guessing that is when they will tell us when, how to register. Just weird since class starts the next day.
