Gateway Community College 2015 applicant waitlist

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone,

I applied to the Gateway Community College nursing program for the 2015-2016 school year, and found out that I have been waitlisted. I am number 8. From looking at people's posts from last year, Gateway had taken people up to number 20 off the waitist. I know that every year the applicant pool is different, so I was wondering if anyone knew how many people applied this year compared to last year? Also for the people who have been accepted, when do you have to let Gateway know if you will be accepting your seat or not? Just trying to find out what my chances of getting in this year are with my waitlist number, and around what time I would hear anything. I would appreciate any bit of information!! Thank you!

Thank you for this information. I received an email that I did not make January 2016 cohort. It's okay though, hoping August 2016. Are you waiting to get in for CEP or did you start the program already?

Oh, *bummer*!! =( =( Yes, keep plugging along at those pre-req's. It's worth it! You'll get there.

I have my ADN application in and I have not yet applied for the CEP yet. I will apply in January. I have one last pre-req for NAU that I'm in right now that I have to finish before applying. The class ends the week before the application deadline - it is TIGHT!

Good luck your almost there. Once you get in will you post how you like the CEP? I haven't seen any blogs regarding the CEP it sounds like it could be an intense program. I have all my pre req's and co req's done including NAU requirements. I need a higher score on Hesi A2 in English Composite .

It does sound like it is a pretty intense program, but I'd rather just get it all done in the two years, than drag it out over 4. What did you get on your Eng. composite? What did you use to study? I studied for a good month and ended up getting at 70 in reading comprehension (all my practice tests I got 100%!!) - but my other english scores were all very high so I ended up with a 94% for eng. composite. I suggest you study the vocabulary and grammar really well - because I think the reading comprehension area is hit or miss - seriously, I got the dumbest question - worded so strangely, it almost felt unfair.

If you look at the Arizona boards there are a bunch of us there. A few of use are cep and will be starting at different campuses in January.

That's what I'm going to do is study for a month really hard and go take it. I have one more attempt for the year. I can't wait I just want to br in Nursing School already. I have a Elsvier HESI 3rd edition book

That is what I used too. But you can only take their tests a few times before you memorize the answers. There are a few threads here that have links to practice quiz's online - use all of the links and take all of the tests you can - totally helps. Here is one I read/used: https://allnurses.com/hesi-entrance-exam/just-took-the-846398.html For vocabulary I loved using flashcards - I did them for 15 minutes a time several times a day from several sources until I knew them all - if you do that, every day for a month you're very likely to get 100%. I didn't run into any vocab on the actual test that was different from the flashcards on quizlet, and I scored 100%. https://quizlet.com/subject/hesi-a2/

Thank you so much you are too kind. I greatly appreciate your links you shared. Keep us posted on your acceptance. í ½í¸€

QUOTE=Chazzie_Made_It;8751576]Hey all! I just got my placement email! I'll be in Gateway's accelerated program starting January 2016!!! Can't wait to find out who else will be starting with me! Only been waiting since June 2015.

Hello there!!

My schedule has been a busy one. Started out the first 2 weeks going in 3 days/week. Since then we have been in class 4 days/week. We have been having pre-clinical lab at twice a week out of our 4 days. And theory and pharm lectures two days out of the week. Lab/Sim are 8 hour days and lectures are 4 hour days, not including your travel time. :)

I love it! It's very busy. A ton of reading. A lot of online stuff to do. It helps a lot to get yourself organized!! Get a planner. Read as much as you can, but you cannot read everything- so study smart! Practice and make good use of lab time.

Over all the professors are awesome and my co-hort are great! I hope we all make it to the end!!

Best wishes to you. -- and now back to my studying. :)
