Hey All,
I aM floored. I just received notice from GA Board of Nursing that they denied the endorsement of my MN RN license because I did not meet clinical practice requirements . When I called the board, they transferred me to a their Legal Nurse Consultant who stated that effective July 1, 2008 GA would no longer endorse RN license from Excelsior College students with no previous RN experience. She suggested that I go to my licensed state and work for a while then try again, but she could not give me a time frame.
Has anyone else experienced this. I thought we should at least have gotten some sort of notice/warning before this type of rule be adopted by the board. I am going to file a motion for reconsideration using an Attorney. Before I entered Excelsiors program I called GA Board to verify acceptance. I had been accepted to a traditional LPN to RN bridge program; I could have been almost finished their too. I am so sad right now. I have been crying for two days. I think I will need to see my doctor for Zoloft.
I have been an LPN for over 13 years doing Med/Surg for at least 10. I work on a hospital unit right now. THIS IS SO UNFAIR!!!:banghead:
Alright, my friends. Here is the most pressing issue at the moment:
They are possibly voting on Rep. Cooper's HB 475 this Thursday, 3/12. This cannot be allowed to pass the House to go on to the Senate.
If you haven't written to the members of the House of Representatives, NOW IS THE TIME!!! Tell them NO TO HB 475!!!
Here is the link to most of their email addresses:

PLEASE, everyone!! Concentrate your efforts on getting HB 475 voted DOWN!!!

my letter to the gov...
dear governor perdue,
as legislation in the form of house bills hb 526, hb 475, hb 610, and hb 532 (the last three also being sponsored by rep. sharon cooper) will eventually be brought before you, please remain alert to the fact that these bills directly oppose what was already passed by the senate with a 50-0 vote for sb 45 and with a 46-2 vote for sb 49!
these house bills are all deliberate, intentional attempts to undo the good work which you yourself had accomplished with the statement you released in support of bona fide nontraditional education methods (such as the excelsior college school of nursing) as a means of solving georgia’s nursing shortage, which we received on november 14; the three new appointments you made to the georgia board of nursing; and your promise to work with the general assembly to obtain a legislative remedy that will keep the licensing option open for our graduates in georgia.
also keep in mind that foreign nurses, trained in other countries by methods which we may not have full access to accurate information about, and which may not meet usa and ga standards, now have an option that is no longer open to those of us who are life-long georgia voters and taxpayers- the possibility of licensure and employment in our own home state.
please vote against or veto hb 475, hb 610, hb 532, and hb 526.
with respectful regards,
((i'm 31 in nurseyears))
