Ga Board of Nurses by Endorsement questions & Frustrations

Published

Hi, just wanted to vent first. I am trying to transfer my license to Ga. Every time I call them with a question, I am put on hold from 30min to an hour. I'm trying to get my questions organized so I don't need to call them back but Grrrrr.... Just had a few more questions and have been on hold for 50 minutes so far.

My question... If my current state participates in Nursys do I need to send that paperwork to my state that they require (proving you are licensed... Sending it to the state where you are licensed)? Should I turn my application in before I register for the website to get fingerprinted? The lady u talked with at cogentin or whatever it's called said usually you get your app in first bc fingerprints only last for 30 days. What else should I print with my application? Marriage license? I recently got married. Nursing license, social security card, and drivers license. This is a big head ache. Thanks for your help.

Hello everyone, I’m new to this website. I know this an old post but going to give it a shot anyway.  I’m in this process of transferring my license by endorsement from Michigan to Georgia. Do I need to change my address before applying?

No, you don't.  You can apply using your MI license, then update your address with the GA BON after relocating.

When I moved to Ga I had to have an address to make it my primary state

Yes, that would be necessary if you wanted to have a compact license and Georgia was your primary state of residence. But anyone can apply for a single state license while residing outside of Georgia as well. Depends on the OP's goals. Are they moving to Georgia but don't have a new driver's license yet? Just need a Georgia license? Etc.

Thank you, I applied for licensure by endorsement and hopeful to become a primary residence. I used a physical P.O. Box address. However I still have a MI license I submitted with it.

Yes I intend on moving to Georgia. I just need an active license so I can start working. I submitted everything Jan 5 had my fingerprints completed on the 24, now I’m waiting for update/ feedback from GBON.

Then you were smart to go ahead and apply. Once you move and have a physical address and have documents to prove primary residence, you could upgrade your single state license to a compact/multistate if you wish. It's not free, but it's not terrible either.

Thank you, I can’t help but feel like I missed something. Getting anything from GBON is a hassle! It’s a SLOW process.

I think a lot of the boards are slow right now, they are impacted by COVID and I suspect also working from home. Hang in there!

Agreed, thank you for your insight.

They all are working from home and Georgia is very slow.
