I have a very good friend that graduated from Excelsior college a year and a half ago, and she resides in Ga. She just got her Cali Rn license by endorsement. So you have to be an Rn in another state for a year, (working RN). Now she got a contract with an agency making a ridiculous amount of money an hour, like $750 per 12 hour shift, of course she works ICU.

I have to run out and do a ton of things today, but if anybody can send me any helpful tips, anything at all about Excelsior, that would be wonderful.
You need to have your student transcripts evaluated by Excelsior to ensure that you meet the admission criteria, which, in your case, would be having more than 50% of your nursing program clinicals completed. As far as Excelsior goes, they only accept people who are healthcare providers already or who have had sufficient clinicals in school because the final clinical exam evaluates your skills; it doesn't teach. That's the nature of the program. You can find their admissions policy here:
http://www.excelsior.edu/special-requirements-associate-degree
Also, Excelsior grads cannot be licensed in a couple of states (due to the evaluation vs. teaching nature of the program, mostly), and other states have extra requirements for grads:
Yes, I did find all that today. I am in Florida and the only accept Excelsior, no stipulations, did ask. And I called again later to be sure. But I graduate in May; would take way longer to do Excelsior and I feel comfortable with skills, just feels natural when I do them, but I wanted to work and thought it might be a good trade-off going/taking longer, but I cannot work the days they need me every month regardless of where I go to school because of no weekend childcare, so I am staying in my program, love it anyway, but cannot work, so am not sure what I'm going to do. Used to have job doing medical transcription at home, which I may be able to get back; they were very supportive, til they cut my pay for barely working, but something's better than nothing. Good luck to you all! And thanks to all who took the time to put there input out there.
If you search the Excelsior website, somewhere on there it lists the 3 regional offices for the preceptor thing. You should be able to contact the office for FL and they should be able to let you know where your closest clinical site is. If I find the numbers when I'm on today, I will post them. I know how hard kids, school, and work is. I'm working on my BSN through Excelsior, working full-time and have 2 kids at home...just remember it's worth it in the end!
I found GA for CPNE.....
Loops since it is a BSN there isn't much to "state acceptance" I will send you a pm on where to get more information. WGU is CCNE accredited. If you finish in less than 6 months it only costs you a bit under 4,000$. If you got the ASN and not the AAS from Excelsior you will only need three pre-requisites (which you can take at the school but must complete prior to the start of the BSN program) which are Nutrition, Statistics, and Biochemistry. Though if you took statistics or nutrition in your undergraduate education you don't need to take them again. I have also seen that some people get the biochemistry waived by having either college level general chemistry or high school chemistry. I haven't tried it yet as I'm still waiting for CPNE and FCCA. I have started collecting my transcripts though to get started about 2 months after my CPNE.

Hey MsPC!!!!
Thanks for the info! I reviewed some posts from the WGU board, and it appears that they only offer a gpa of 3.0 max, which may pose some problems for me should I chose our local NP program darn it I had my ASN too. Ugh!
Good luck on your CPNE!! Where are testing?
I am asking for Queens, Albany, or Syracuse. With a three week notice. Since I have to do the new FCCA that will give me two and a half months of study time. I want to start my BSN in October do I can be working by Christmas since I need it to work where I want to work.
I would ask your local FNP program about the gpa. I found lots said a 3.0 or above out of a 4.0 scale so they convert the 3.0 scale to a 4.0 giving me a 4.0.
Does anybody else know of anyone getting a California RN license after Excelsior? Like in the last year?
CABRN is pretty specific if Excelsior ADN (not BSN) is what qualified you initially for licensing as an RN you are not eligible in CA.
They are the only state that has LVN + 30 credit unit option to become an RN in CA only (the LVN+30 is not valid in any other state)
