FY2014 Navy Nurse Corps Direct Accession

Published

Hi everyone. I am trying to join the Navy Nurse Corps for FY 2014 (Oct. 2013). I know this is a bit early for a thread like this but I plan on beginning my package in January 2013 to allow maximum time to perfect my application kit. I will be graduating with my BSN May 2013 and plan on taking NCLEX shortly after. I am hoping my kit will be triple checked before I submit it to the board. I am in the process of contacting a healthcare recruiter is San Diego right now and hopefully get stuff moving along. I just wanted to post this thread for others that are also planning on applying for FY2014 commissioning. I will be sharing information as the process goes along so you guys can get an idea of timeframe of events. I know I have been on all these similar threads trolling for answers in the hopes of adequate preparation.. Hope to meet some of you with similar goals soon  Kim

Love, so I'm guessing you need to wait for that last interview before your kit can even go to processing?

No. My packet has already been through processing and that was the only thing that was noted. I guess I am lucky because the processor is in the same office as my recruiter. Once that phone interview is done, my packet will be ready for submission to the board. Monday, I will called my recruiter to remind her...LoL.

same here in terms of the processor being in the same building. one of the many reasons i chose the san diego recruiting district over los angeles haha

We have a processor, but my kit has to go to his supervisor though.

I hope that when the packets are submitted that the board select from what they have and not hold onto them until they get more. My recruiter was telling me about a packet that was submitted in November and didn't get selected until June due to holding onto the packets. That is my worry...give me a yes or no so I can move on....LoL.

Yeah, that would suck. If stuff like that does happen, it's probably for specialities that get the fewest kits.

hi! I was just browsing through posts regarding navy nursing and stumbled across this, I have my ADN and will graduate wit my BSN next month. I have 2 years medsurg and 1 year icu experience. im just wondering how long the waiting list is and If theres a good chance of me getting in. any information would be greatly appreciated

Dmendoza: it's very competitive right now but since you have icu experience it should be relatively easier for you. Contact a healthcare recruiter as soon as possible to start the process. It is a long and frustrating one but if it is truly what you want you will stick it out until the end.

I'm not 100% sure, but since your experience is with your ADN, I don't think it counts towards anything. I could be wrong, but I believe that's what I have been told.

vinstafa is right. The Navy only counts experience post BSN. I also agree with GuelnRn, start the process ASAP. My recruiter said that is a 6 month (sometimes more) process.

Speaking of the long process...does anyone else feel like the days are dragging by??

I couldn't agree more, these days feel like they are going backwards. I wonder how slow they are going to be in October when things actually start happening. I finally have everything ready to be sent to the PM on 10/1.

On the brightside, the new FY is in 7 days!

I am also anxiously awaiting to hear the number of slots available this year...I don't know if that is going to make it better or worse...
