FY2014 Navy Nurse Corps Direct Accession

Published

Hi everyone. I am trying to join the Navy Nurse Corps for FY 2014 (Oct. 2013). I know this is a bit early for a thread like this but I plan on beginning my package in January 2013 to allow maximum time to perfect my application kit. I will be graduating with my BSN May 2013 and plan on taking NCLEX shortly after. I am hoping my kit will be triple checked before I submit it to the board. I am in the process of contacting a healthcare recruiter is San Diego right now and hopefully get stuff moving along. I just wanted to post this thread for others that are also planning on applying for FY2014 commissioning. I will be sharing information as the process goes along so you guys can get an idea of timeframe of events. I know I have been on all these similar threads trolling for answers in the hopes of adequate preparation.. Hope to meet some of you with similar goals soon  Kim

Vinstafa my recruiter turned in all nurse corps applications to the project manager sept 5. He sent me an email from there I should expect to wait 6-8 weeks til results of the board. I'm assuming the board will be meeting mid September.

I wonder why my recruiter is beating 10/1 in my head, even for the PM. He was telling me that they, the PM, weren't even taking kits for the new FY until 10/1.

GuelnRn,

Yes my packet has returned from processing. I will meet with my recruiter Wednesday to see if there are any changes that need to be made. I am hoping not.

I am from Newport News, Va and my recruiter also told me early October.

I've heard the same...10/1/2013. My recruiter did say that the boards used to accept early packets, but not this year. They want them all at the same time. I will meet with the recruiter Wednes and update you all with what I find out.

Love2013 thanks for the info. About how long did processing take? I think my recruiter turned in packets to be processed early to make sure everything is board ready come October 1. I've read on here that sometimes processing itself keeps kits from making the board. That would be horrible...

just got word my application was processed but that my recruiter and I need to correct a few things... We double checked everything and it still came back with mistakes... Meeting with him tomorrow to correct the items the processor pointed out. Any one else have any new infomration?

I'm waiting for my processing to be finished. What kind of things did you need corrected?

vinstafa: most of it are inconsistencies on my nasis such as dates, non-updated gpa, and a few other minor errors. To be honest im not sure why I have to drive all the way to San Diego to make these corrections with my recruiter, but I guess its better to actually see the corrections being done instead of assuming he corrected everything himself. I really hope this doesn't keep me from the first board... My anxiety has been worst it has ever been this past week and I'm guessing it will only continue to get worse haha

Better safe than sorry I guess, especially since our kits can't go to the PM until 10/1. I feel you with the anxiety. With how slow and dragged out this process has been, I just wonder how our kits can go to the PM on 10/1, get reviewed, sent back to the recruiter for revisions, go back to the PM and then finally to boards by the cut off date.

I just thank God that football season started 2 weeks ago to help this month go by a little faster...

Vinstafa: my kit was on the way to the PM already but like I said it required some corrections. My recruiter told me the "processing" is a series of steps that go through a few people and eventually the PM when no more corrections need to be made. My advice is that you contact your recruiter and let him/her know that other candidates have already sent in kits to be processed to be deemed "board ready." If you have any corrections to be made, at least you have a few weeks before October.

It seems like a few of us have been told different things about how things are "supposed" to go, which makes this even more annoying.

Hello everyone!

I met with my recruiter today for the submission of my packet for FY2014. At this point, I am still waiting for two employers to return the reference sheet (they are sure taking their time!!). Now it is a waiting game... I am a new(er) grad. I have one year experience however, only 6 months are post-BSN so I am still considered a new grad. This is my first submission to the board and I am excited/anxious/nervous all at the same time. Of course my recruiter told me I have an excellent chance and that the next time he sees me I will be sworn in prior to ODS but then again what else would he say??

Best of luck to everyone!!!
