Hi everyone. I am trying to join the Navy Nurse Corps for FY 2014 (Oct. 2013). I know this is a bit early for a thread like this but I plan on beginning my package in January 2013 to allow maximum time to perfect my application kit. I will be graduating with my BSN May 2013 and plan on taking NCLEX shortly after. I am hoping my kit will be triple checked before I submit it to the board. I am in the process of contacting a healthcare recruiter is San Diego right now and hopefully get stuff moving along. I just wanted to post this thread for others that are also planning on applying for FY2014 commissioning. I will be sharing information as the process goes along so you guys can get an idea of timeframe of events. I know I have been on all these similar threads trolling for answers in the hopes of adequate preparation.. Hope to meet some of you with similar goals soon Kim
I am old....29...lol. I will be 30 in Feb.
I met with my recruiter on Wednesday and found put that the quotas for FY 14 have not been released yet. So they are going off of FY13 quotas. General nurses 34 slots and critical care 15 slots. I was also told that the board should open on the first, but it can take weeks to months to hear back....depending on the number of packets submitted. The recruiter told me that they sometimes hold on to packets until more is submitted then a selection is made. I pray that this is not the case this year. I pray that they select according to the packets they have in at the moment.
I am so ready for the waiting game to be over. Will let you all know what I find out.
I am working on my packet. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll make the first boards. I went to MEPS recently and may get DQ'd due to elevated amylase and lipase (pancreatitis as automatic permanent disqualification) following a lap chole last October. Has anyone here had to go through a medical waiver? How long does it take? I'm a 24yo w 14 months of ICU experience. I graduated May 2012 and ICU is all I know/want. Is anyone else applying for Critical Care? Any word yet on number of applicants vs. available spots?
Thanks everyone! Love, is your kit board ready? My recruiter who has always been on top of things is now seemingly ignoring me after last minute corrections to my kit are necessary... I am so frustrated. He said he wanted to make corrections ASAP and he hasn't replied or reached out to me in the last three days... Now I'm waiting anxiously every single day for his call! I just want to be done with this and go back to peaceful living haha
