FY2014 Navy Nurse Corps Direct Accession

Published

Hi everyone. I am trying to join the Navy Nurse Corps for FY 2014 (Oct. 2013). I know this is a bit early for a thread like this but I plan on beginning my package in January 2013 to allow maximum time to perfect my application kit. I will be graduating with my BSN May 2013 and plan on taking NCLEX shortly after. I am hoping my kit will be triple checked before I submit it to the board. I am in the process of contacting a healthcare recruiter is San Diego right now and hopefully get stuff moving along. I just wanted to post this thread for others that are also planning on applying for FY2014 commissioning. I will be sharing information as the process goes along so you guys can get an idea of timeframe of events. I know I have been on all these similar threads trolling for answers in the hopes of adequate preparation.. Hope to meet some of you with similar goals soon  Kim

Find out more about that when you are there today. I wonder why my recruiter told me 1 OCT at the earliest.

Due date is oct 1 but he said he gives all his applicants an early deadline to avoid problems with the process of getting it into the program managers hands because it happens more often than it should

All done!!! Now the wait. Best of luck to everyone

Best of luck to all

Did you also finish your application and send out for processing to the project manager malenurse?

I was looking to apply to the AF too,but the recruiter was really rude. He was also hard to reach. I emailed him and called him 2-3 times a week for a month and a half. When I finally reached him, the very first thing out of his mouth was, how much do you weigh?; Not how many years have you been a nurse, what's your area of specialty. Then told me I had to lose 5 pounds then he would talk to me. I was in utter shock, so I questioned him...."It's going to take a while to gather in the paperwork, but you will not even discuss my options until I lose 5 pounds? His answer...Yep!!!! I couldn't believe that so I called my cousin who is a AF recruiter and he said the same thing. After more research, I realized I was in their weight requirements, but I began the process with the Navy. They were much more professional and likable....LoL.

I am waiting to hear from my recruiter so I can review my packet before final submission. I want to be selected the first time.

How many applicants are applying for 1960 (critical care)????

Is your whole kit done as in you went through the checklist item by item and sent out for processing? It's scary how many hands and eyes each of our applications go through just to be turned into the board. I'm paranoid my application will fall through the cracks and at this point just hoping it makes it to the board since I turned everything in on time... What city are you from and did you hear anything about when the board will meet? Should be early October.

I can see why the Air Force recruiter would be concerned if he thought you weren't within the requirements but there's no need to be disrespectful.... Then again we are all looking into the military and respect has a different meaning lol

How many other fiscal year 2014 applicants are still actively trying to make the first board? Any input would be beneficial for anyone keeping track of this thread!

I went down box by box and updated everything from this past April, except my physcial, since that is good for 2 years. My kit just needs my charge nurse reference to be received by my recruiter.

I'm just nervous about everything not being able to be given to the PM until 10/1, and them being finished with my kit before the first board meets. This thread really makes the time go by a little faster, and it's nice knowing that I am not the only one freaking out about this lol.

love, I am also 1960.

guelrn,

I did finish everything and I have submitted it. Just waiting for the numbers to come out.
