Hi everyone. I am trying to join the Navy Nurse Corps for FY 2014 (Oct. 2013). I know this is a bit early for a thread like this but I plan on beginning my package in January 2013 to allow maximum time to perfect my application kit. I will be graduating with my BSN May 2013 and plan on taking NCLEX shortly after. I am hoping my kit will be triple checked before I submit it to the board. I am in the process of contacting a healthcare recruiter is San Diego right now and hopefully get stuff moving along. I just wanted to post this thread for others that are also planning on applying for FY2014 commissioning. I will be sharing information as the process goes along so you guys can get an idea of timeframe of events. I know I have been on all these similar threads trolling for answers in the hopes of adequate preparation.. Hope to meet some of you with similar goals soon  Kim

I have been emailing my recruiter out of Norfolk, VA without any resolve....This is increasing my anxiety. This has been the most trying process for me.

I'm just waiting for my work references to get mailed in. After they are received by him, I'm going to call and see what the next step will be. The next month or so is going to drrrraaaaaaaaaggggggg by so slow.

Hi everyone, I'm also trying to complete my kit for October 1. I might have my first interview this weekend. I graduated last year and received my license last December. I have no experience except for clinicals. I have a really great recruiter and he has made this process really smooth. Is anyone else from New Jersey?

Same here Prissy88... I just graduated two weeks ago and am still waiting to take the NCLEX. Is it just me or has FY2014 been relatively quiet? Ive been on the boards for quite some time now and have seen posts about every fiscal year. During this time of year the DA threads are usually updated with a bunch of information from applicants from all over the nation. Maybe it won't be as competitive this year?! So far it seems as if only about 4-5 of us are still replying to this thread... just an observation

I have been emailing my recruiter all day and he told me that the kit can't even go to the program manager until 10/1. From there is goes back to the recruiter, fixed, back to the PM and they send it to boards. All this is supposed to happen in a 2.5 week period.

@GuelnRn yea it has been quiet. I remember following other threads and all the action those would have. so maybe it's not that competitive this year. I wish you the absolutely best with the nclex. when are you taking it?

Oh wow I did not know that. No wonder why some people in the past have turned their kits in early but never made it to the board. Seems like a very inefficient process, but I guess that's just how it is. The next two months will be even longer than waiting for the new fiscal year! I hope we all make it to the board and get the shot we deserve for sticking with the process and dealing with all of the craziness.

Thank you prissy88! I'm taking it mid October. I literally just graduated a few days ago and have just been relaxing! Easier said than done with all of the uncertainty with the boards, civilian employment, and the Navy application... Has anyone looked into the other branches? I was working with a really great Army recruiter but the Army is only hiring reserves at the moment and a lot of them... There are over 110 new grad reserve spots for the army according the my AMEDD recruiter. I have no desire to be a reservist though. Shame...

Yeah, the whole process is crazy. I was looking into the AF as a back-up plan, filled out a little mini questionaire, and never heard back from them. Since you guys are new grads, I am assuming you are coming in as 1900, and basically you have to make the first board?

Yes.. My recruiter said it is absolutely imperative I make the first board due to the fact that I'm a new grad. He said that if I make the first boards there shouldn't be a problem getting picked up as there are a lot of spots in October. Who knows though... I've been praying a lot though and just trying to find peace. You should be good though going in as 1960. Have you guys heard anything about the Psych specialty code? I heard that is also in high demand given the prevalence of PTSD in the military.

I am hoping that's the case with 1960. Haven't heard anything about the psych. I guess the new numbers, for openings, don't come out until the new FY?

ok so my recruiter and I are doing the final checklist tomorrow at 1245 pm. He said that everything must be turned in no later than september 11, 2013 to be considered for the first board... I'm not sure how accurate this is as he said I had until October 1 at some point but now he wants everything in by next Wednesday... Anyone else hear this? If not, I would suggest checking with your recruiters to ensure your kits get in on time! Let me know what you guys hear =)
