I have been following the thread for FY 2013 Air Force nursing and realize that many of the clinical nurses, including myself, were made alternates for FY 2014. The only information I have received from my recruiter is that I will find out sometime in April or May if I am selected or not. Has anyone received more detailed information about the upcoming boards? What is the likelihood of selection for us alternates?

I am also interested to hear from anyone currently serving as a clinical nurse in the Air Force who can describe the day-to-day life and current news regarding the nursing specialty. I am 28 years old, have been an acute care RN at a level I facility since 2008, served seven years in the Army National Guard, and am a family man with two children. My wife, also an RN, and I are excited that I am an "alternate" for FY 2014 because it seems likely I will be selected. We have anxieties about active duty because I have never served on active duty.

I am MedSurg. Congratulations to those that have heard. I hope for those that have not heard that you will hear good news.

Oh man I emailed my recruiter yesterday!! I texted him today and no answerI have been very patient and have not bothered him since I went to MEPS...I think I will go insane on this wait..wish there was a place where they published the names so at least I would know.

All of u that know, were u alternates last time?

I just found out yesterday that I have been selected for Med-Surg!! So excited, however, I don't know when I'll go to COT or where my assignment will be. I heard the Shutdown is affecting all assignments right now. Anyone hear anything?

I found out I was selected for an OR nurse position! I am so excited, it is still sinking in! Congrats to everyone who was selected! I don't know where or when I am going yet, can't wait to find out!

Hello everyone.....I also applied on this board and have been following all your posts. I have not heard the results yet.....through others experience do the ones that got selected find out before the ones that did not? So is this no news mean bad news?

Hey...for those that have been selected. Do you guys mind looking at the names in this list to see if your names appear in it. Someone sent it to me but i doubt if this is the correct list for our selection. If it is, I am definitely a non-select. Thank you.
