FY 2018 Air Force NTP

Published

Hi everyone! So I'm currently in nursing school & I will be graduating in August 2017 with my BSN. Anyone else applying for the July selection boards? I've already submitted all of my paperwork/LOR's, and my recruiter said that my CN interview is going to be within the next 3 weeks...so exciting! I've read a ton of forums from people that have applied for NTP in the past, and they seem to be very insightful/encouraging...so I just figured I'd reach out and see who else might be applying this year! :)

Has anyone applied to NTP with more than 1 year of experience? I finished my ADN and since have been working outpatient whil I complete my BSN. My recruiter is saying I'm too qualified for NTP with 2 1/2 ur experience- but it's subacute.

Anyone applied in a similar situation? I'm applying for FY2019, board July 2018.

Specializes in Adult Critical Care.

Are you eligible to apply as fully qualified (FQ)? That's were I would think they would put you. Your experience just might not count towards your time in grade like acute care experience would...i.e. ypu would start was a brand-new O-1.

Hey all -- Is anyone else out there applying for NTP for this upcoming board? I'm in the waiting game phase now and wondering if anyone out there can relate. I graduate with my BSN in August.

I'm right there with you! I graduate in May í ½í¸³í ½í¸

Congrats!!! I'm in an accelerated program, so we graduate off-cycle, hence the weird August date.

You're prior service though, yes?

Congrats to you as well! Accelerated program is a huge accomplishment! Yes, about 12 years active prior. You?

Thank you so much! 12 years of prior active service is also a huge accomplishment, wow!!

I'm applying as a civilian out of Boston. Where are you in the world? Do you have any components of your application left to submit?

I wish we knew when we'll hear back, but I know it's so tough to determine for sure when decisions will be released. I've been reading old threads on this, but so far no particular timeframe stands out.

Did anyone else hear about the summer board date being pushed? No surprise there, but I'm wondering in the past when folks have found out about selection.

I applied Mid-February and heard by the beginning of March.

Great! ^ Any information about the *summer* board, though?

How often is appropriate to harass my recruiter? I turned in my initial documents 2 weeks ago and haven't heard anything since, other than he got them. I get he's overwhelmed but I also don't want to annoy him too much.

Hi @marcieD.,BSN!

While I don't think it's ever appropriate to harass your recruiter ;-) I do think that a 2-week silence warrants a friendly follow-up email or call from you. Nothing wrong with saying you're checking in and looking forward to the next steps. Recruiters do have a lot going on, so self-advocacy goes a long way, in my experience. Chances are he/she isn't ignoring you, but juggling a lot at once.

Where are you located?
