Hi everyone! So I'm currently in nursing school & I will be graduating in August 2017 with my BSN. Anyone else applying for the July selection boards? I've already submitted all of my paperwork/LOR's, and my recruiter said that my CN interview is going to be within the next 3 weeks...so exciting! I've read a ton of forums from people that have applied for NTP in the past, and they seem to be very insightful/encouraging...so I just figured I'd reach out and see who else might be applying this year! :)

I think that it's reasonable to follow-up once a week. You probably can't change recruiters, because there is typically just one AF nursing recruiter for an entire region (such as North and South Carolina). At best, you can reach out to the recruiter's supervision (an option when you call the office) if the recruiter is ignoring multiple attempts to get in touch.

Yes, I know where Travis is. I don't think most people know where Fairfield or Vacaville are though. Sacramento is the nearest major city.

Hi everyone! New on here...are y'all applying to NTP this year? I graduate in May and am prior enlisted. I'm overwhelmed with the package/process and recruiters! I'm asking for help and I hear nothing back í ½í¸’

I am waiting for my interview! After that, it is just a waiting game until early August :/

Goodness I wish that's all I was waiting on! Who all did you get to write your letters of recommendation?

My clinical preceptor, a faculty, and a professor. Honestly, my recruitor said only one of them was written really, really well, and that was by my faculty person, who had applied for the Air Force years back but never enlisted. All three are nurses. My preceptor was an airman in the Air Force but he wrote a really succinct letter, my professor was an army general and nurse practitioner before he became a faculty at our college of nursing. His letter was too general I guess. You want specific examples of when you demonstrated air force values

Yeah, I'm having trouble with content within the letters. Where are you interviewing at? I'm ready to get everything complete and turned in!

I'm interviewing at Wright-Pat, not sure when yet but anxious and hoping I dont ramble like I always do when I'm nervous!

Good luck! You'll do great I'm sure. Just be confident in your answers. I was stationed at wright patt a few years ago.

Hi Emloohoo,

I know that this was an old post. Just curious, where are you in your application process? I am an OR nurse too, Graduated Dec 2017 from RN BSN program at CSUSM, applying for AF Reserve flight nurse.Just submitted my application March 2,. So far, nothing has happened yet. Are yours being processed? If so, can you please give me some insight. Thank you.

Wtbcrna,

Hi there. I was an Army Reserve Nurse corps and went to AMEED Officer Basic Course 10 years ago. I got out few years ago and looking at AF reserve flight nurse, if I get accepted, do I need to attend COT?

The only people that get out of COT are people who did ROTC or who are prior commissioned AF...i.e. they were an officer in another role in the AF.

I would recommend you do COT even if you could get out of it somehow. There are some substantial differences between the Army and AF nurse corps...such as our chain of command (which includes non medical people even at the local level) and our annual performance reports (the format of which is way different from the Army). Would you know how to properly wear the Air Force service dress uniform if they simply sent you to your first base without any training?
