Hi everyone! So I'm currently in nursing school & I will be graduating in August 2017 with my BSN. Anyone else applying for the July selection boards? I've already submitted all of my paperwork/LOR's, and my recruiter said that my CN interview is going to be within the next 3 weeks...so exciting! I've read a ton of forums from people that have applied for NTP in the past, and they seem to be very insightful/encouraging...so I just figured I'd reach out and see who else might be applying this year! :)
No, you selection of bases has no bearing on whether or not your accepted or not. The two decisions are made independently of each other by two different groups. An accession board made up of senior O-6s ranks applicants for commissioning. A nursing assignments officer, often an O-4, at Air Force personnel handles your assignment.
I applied for Med-Surg. However, there are multiple areas we can be assigned to as Clinical Nurses (46N3). That being said, we don't know where we will be assigned.
I received "the phone call" yesterday from my recruiter! I got accepted for 46S3 (PeriOp). Now I'm awaiting my duty station results and then my scroll. I can anticipate reporting to my first command in early spring and I don't have to attend COT since I'm in the USN Reserves currently.
Has anyone else found out if they're accepted?!

So this was my first time applying. I started my application process in March. I have a 3.9 GPA, student rep for my cohort, VP of the nursing chapter, member of NSNA and Ohio student nurses association. I had Red Cross volunteer and a bunch of other volunteer things. I was in an honors nursing program and did some research. I also volunteer at a shelter. You do not get to choose where your NTP is at. They make you fill out a sheet where you would prefer your base to be at, but it's not honored. NTP is a 10 week course and is only available at like 3 bases. After the 10 weeks you go work at the hospital where your base is at. For example: my NTP is at lackland but my base is Keesler. Reading your credentials and your volunteerism you should get in no problem!!
