FY 2018 Air Force NTP

Hi everyone! So I'm currently in nursing school & I will be graduating in August 2017 with my BSN. Anyone else applying for the July selection boards? I've already submitted all of my paperwork/LOR's, and my recruiter said that my CN interview is going to be within the next 3 weeks...so exciting! I've read a ton of forums from people that have applied for NTP in the past, and they seem to be very insightful/encouraging...so I just figured I'd reach out and see who else might be applying this year! :)

No! There's a fb group?! What's the name??

I am going into the OR too! I have questions for both of you!! Have either of you heard anything about the actual NTP portion or just where you are going after?? I can PM you my facebook if you want to connect!

So far no info on NTP í ½í¸í ½í¸ just the COT info and follow on.

Anybody who was in nursing school still when they applied for the program that actually got in? If so what was your GPA and volunteer work done?

Had a 3.87gpa, top of my cohort. President of a campus group, treasurer of 3 other campus groups, 100 extra volunteer hours with my NSNA chapter a year of aid work on an ortho floor.

Thanks for replying so fast! So you got in on the first try? When were you allowed to apply?

I was told by my healthcare recruiter in GA that I can start applying in my last semester of my senior year while in the nursing program. Was that true for you as well? So basically I plan on applying January 2019 my last semester with a graduation date of May 2019. I'm just trying to get ahead of the game. Also where would you advise that I volunteer to make myself more competitive(Red cross etc...)?

I'm also prior service of 8years, but in a completely different MOS and I'm wondering if that will help or not?

Yes I got in first try and yes you will apply in your final semester of school. Your prior service should be a great thing for your application. Other than that, Red Cross is great but I think hours volunteered matter even more than who it's with. I also had a couple foreign mission trips and was told that was good as well.

Ok thanks. I wonder if the senior nursing trip to Africa next year will count as volunteer time? I plan on going to that if possible. I really appreciate the response so quickly. I'm just anxious and really want to become part of the nurse corps. It has always been a dream of mine!

Also from the time you applied to the time you actually found out how long did it take? Don't they tell you if you got in by like August or September? Did you take or have your NCLEX scores back before you got accepted?

I think that trip can only help! I finished my application about May 5 or so by the time MEPS was done and I had my on base interview done. Then I took my NCLEX in June and got my results the next day. Then I got a summer camp nurse job in a couple days and was able to add that to my application. We found out the selection results August 29 I believe.

I received a welcome e-mail from my NTP in Lackland AFB Texas!

If you don't mind me asking, what did your GPA and community service look like? Is this your first try? Also did you get to choose where you were going to NTP or do they choose for you based off of needs of the Air Force or whats closest to you?
