Hello Midinphx, Are you still an AE as Flight Nurse? what unit are you attached? I am currently at Travis AFB as 46S3 (Surgical Nurse). Fairly new in AF reserve Captain (June 2022) coming from Army Reserve (13 years). My plan to change my AFSC and become a Flight Nurse. Just trying to figure out the process. Do you have any insight? Air Force nursing FY2021
Hello, Need some general info. I am about to raise my right hand as Captain Reserve 46SX (Peri-Operative Nurse). How is the promotion to Major? How many years as Captain to promote to Major? Also, are we required to attend Squadron Officer School to be eligible for Major Promotion?

Cool. I am currently in the Army Reserve as OR Nurse Capt. Per recruiter, I don't have to go to COT since I did Basic Officer Leadership course in the Army. Currently, It's taking forever to get a Flight Physical for AF Flight Nurse, so, my plan is to transfer as an OR Nurse and eventually apply for Flight nurse job. Hopefully, it work out as planned. How was the training? Flight school, AEIQ, SERE? Are these training pretty intense? Physically demanding? Just curious

Hi Devo19, Thank you for the insight. I am an ER nurse as well. Hope ER experience will be sufficient for Flight nursing. I'm getting closer to going Blue. My paperwork is being sent to the higher up for final approval, then OATH, fingers crossed! My first choice is March AFB, then Travis AFB. Are you fully qualified flight nurse now? What unit are you. How are you liking it? Hows your reserve schedule working out with your civilian full time job? Thanks again for responding.

AIr Force Flight Nurse
Good morning All, I am being process at this time. I am a full time OR Nurse and had my interview with CN as Surgical Nurse AF Reserve (46N3) and my application is being sent to higher up for final approval. I am currently an Army reserve nurse corps and doing inter-service transfer to AF Reserve. My goal is to be a AF Flight Nurse Reserve. If I join the AF reserve as surgical Nurse, What is my chance of changing AFSC to AF Flight Nurse? Any insight / advice is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

FY2020 Army Nurse Corps
How's your packet coming along? My process took just a lil over 6 months to join Army Reserve as 66E. Started the process April 2019, and got my order Nov 2019. Its really taking you a long time to get commission. Are you going Active or Reserve? Which unit? Good luck to you.

Congrats. Even tho it took couple years. Did you sign with ALC Code? That’s what my recruiter told me. Clinical nurse with AMDS unit is with an (ALC) Assignment Limitation Code. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not. Because I don’t have flight physical. I’ve been O3 for over 3 years. It’s kinda sucks if I I have to start with zero TIG. I really have to think about it now. Thanks for the info Jfratian..

Flight Nursing in Air Force Reserves
Hello. Thank you for your quick response and insight. I am an Army Reserve Operating Room Nurse, O3/Captain. Currently full time OR nurse civilian side. Working on inter-service transfer to Air Force Reserve, hoping I can be a Flight Nurse and I don't have to do COT. I just found out that I am being schedule for interviewed with AMDS unit because I don't have Flight Physical at this time. Recruiter said there's about 2 years back log for Flight Physical. I wonder if I can request ASTS squadron vs AMDS? I do have ER experience for almost 6 years though. Do you know or recommendation to get in sooner for Flight Physical? I wonder if other branch like Navy can do flight physical?

Flight Nursing in Air Force Reserves
Hello jfratian, I had my paperwork being process for AF Flight nurse but I was told by the recruiter that I have to have flight physical first before I can have an interview with the Chief Nurse. But Flight physical are so behind and have 2 years waiting to get an appointment. Recruiter recommended to join as Clinical nurse and can be schedule for interview sooner. Is this something I should do and work my way to flight nurse once I attached to a Unit? Need your insight. Thank you
