Hi everyone! So I'm currently in nursing school & I will be graduating in August 2017 with my BSN. Anyone else applying for the July selection boards? I've already submitted all of my paperwork/LOR's, and my recruiter said that my CN interview is going to be within the next 3 weeks...so exciting! I've read a ton of forums from people that have applied for NTP in the past, and they seem to be very insightful/encouraging...so I just figured I'd reach out and see who else might be applying this year! :)

@RNGrad2018, I just got the same update from my recruiter. Boards tentatively meet at the beginning of August, decisions tentatively given by the end of the month. Fingers crossed!!!

Where are you/did you graduate from and which speciality do you think you're most interested in?

Does anyone know how often the boards meet? I just finally submitted official paperwork to my recruiter a few weeks ago, waiting on a MEPS date. I know I probably won't be submitted to a board until next year, just wondering how often they meet?

Hi @marcieD.,BSN -- I think it's only once or twice per year. I know it's not frequent and it's subject to change... Which board did your recruiter tell you you'd be eligible to apply for?

I'm applying for 46f (Reserves). Its just an incredibly slowwwwwwwww process. I'm abkut 8 hours away from the base I will be working out of, so if I do get commissioned I plan on moving closer to there and taking a perm job closer, I'm currently just doing travel assignments. Just trying to plan out my next year of where I'm going to be living!

I think they meet about once a quarter so about every 3-4 months. But the fiscal year ends in September? I think. So if they have filled all the slots before on the previous boards, you will become an alternate or not be chosen. That is what I have found out. Also it is a long process, especially if you have to get medical waivers.

Last year there was a board in October, so I'm not sure if there will be one before the end of the year.

Are you referring to the Reserves specifically? Because I am applying for NTP and those boards are in August, I just got notification about that. They're subject to delay, but they're in the July-September range. They won't meet again before the end of the year after that.

Reserves here. I finally got my MEPS date. I don't anticipate my packet being ready for a board this year honestly. Just happy the process is finally moving along. I first started speaking with a recruiter last December.

Hello! Anybody knows how many applicants for the NTP and how many AF will accept? I can't find previous information to get a rough estimate. Thank you in advance!

I don't know about the number of applicants (hundreds or more, likely), but I think there are approximately 30 slots available? That's just based on what I've read in previous threads.

So if I'm applying for Reserves, just going to MEPS in a couple weeks I should plan on a board sometime next spring or summer?

Not NTP, applying for 46f with 3 years Trauma exp and my CCRN, CEN, TNS, TNCC.

Sorry, I'm really not sure how it works with the Reserves. Your recruiter should be able to answer that, though!
