Hello all,
Anyone who has applied to el centro nursing program for spring 08...has anyone gotten an acceptance letter yet???
Let me know what info you have...thanks
Can you tell me what the first semester is like? I worry that the RN's at clinical hospitals will feel we are a bother. I have 2 kiddos, 3 counting my husband. How difficult is it to juggle?-Nancy
Well if it gives you any hope, I am in my last semester and I have 4 kids, 5 including my husband. First semester for me was a little bit of a shock. You will be at school 4 days a week most weeks. There were two clinical days, one skills lab day, and one day for lecture. Be prepared for lots of last minute schedule changes (and i do mean last minute) as El Centro is notorious for them.
You take baby steps as far as clinical is concerned and cannot do anything you haven't covered in class and harder skills you check off on.
As far as the nurses are concerned.....well there are many who are bothered by students but an equal number who love teaching us. Just don't let the bad attitude of others deter you from your goal. Just stay with it and be prepared for lots of hard work. Getting in is not the hard part. It is just the beginning.
Congradulations and Good Luck!
Pretty much what she said. First semester, it seemed like we were busy every day with something. I am a single mom with a 7 year old. It takes a lot of time, and you have to be very organized....it can be done though. Involve your kids in your studying. My daughter studies with me, and she actually picks up on more things than you can imagine. Husbands....well he's just gonna have to be understanding! lol
Good luck - you'll do fine

Billie,
I also applied as a late applicant and am afraid that I might have possibly gotten an email from Kanora but that it went to the spam folder and I accidentally deleted it. So, now I do not know what to do since they are without phones/email for the time being. I tied to email her via the dcccd.edu address but it bounced back and I know my phone message likely will not be responded to. I am a little bummed since I know that more than likely I didn't get in (and I really was hoping I would!). I am holding on to hope though. Just wish there was some way to find out for sure. I am crossing my fingers for you too!

Well I hope they let us know today. My first choice is El Centro because I can ride the Dart Rail from Garland.
I would think they would give up enough heads up, because we will have to come in for orientation.
Good Luck to your Wife.
