Funniest injury you have ever seen.....

I took care of a guy once who had an injury to the third toe and complete amputation of the fourth toe. When asked how this injury occurred......"I was using my twelve gauge shot gun to kill moles in my yard." :chuckle

All I kept thinking was "you might be a redneck if........." :rotfl:

I told him that I hoped his family was going to get plenty of miles out of his injury and his son said "oh yeah. The last thing I told him was not to shoot his foot with the gun." The guy had been balancing the barrel of the gun on his shoe while he waited for signs of the moles moving underground.

Considering that I live in Fl, and have been fishing since I was a kid, I'd bet serious money that was what is called a "bull shark"... they are serious predators of the great white calibur that was made famous by the Jaws movie, and are territorial. We had a 9ft come at us while in the boat - in 4 ft of water. He swam around the boat - a 22 foot boat, btw, then started ramming it. Needless to say, we started the engine and left!

Now you have just got to explain this to me, what disorder causes someone to do this, and are you telling me this is not totally unusual? Wowsers!:coollook:

That's exactly what I was thinking! Okay, once, maybe you made a dumb mistake, but multiple foreign body insertions???? It's like pica, only ... different...

A man who was fishing and got a 3 way fish hook stuck in his finger with all 3 barbs sticking out. He was coming into the ER and noticed that his fly was open. He zipped up using the same hand and the 3 way hook got stuck in his member and in the zipper. (wasn't wearing underwear) Walks in with his hand in his fly and obviously in alot of pain. LMAO, not around this poor guy of course!

Poor guy, but you have to wonder, why was he fishing with no underwear on....

had a guy bring in his son with the 3 way hook embedded in the kid's cheek, just like the fish gets it. the guy was leading the kid by the fishing line still attached to the hook- sounds cruel but it was FUNNY. He was a little aggravated with the kid, and when we got the hook out, we figured out why. what a mouth!

We'd all be surprised to know just how many people don't wear underwear! Personally I think it's nasty, especially for women but I know nurses who do not wear underwear. Yeck. Sorry if I offended anyone. Just IMO that it's nasty, people are free to do whatever they feel comfortable doing. As for me....I'm not going anywhere without my panties!

When I was doing clinicals for my LVN, there was a guy who had fallen off the roof while hanging christmas lights in an intoxicated state. His wife told us student nurses "see, girls, this is why you should never start drinking". Then the injured husband told her "Yeah, right woman, like you don't go through a case of beer every weekend". Hee-hee.

haha...just like jay jay...i also had a patient who caught his member in his pants...i felt sorry for him though...

some patients are kinda weird though...i had this patient once...he was a construction worker and he accidentally stepped on a nail...so when i was about to inject him with anti-tetorifice he freaked out...well, i understand if you have some kind of fear from needles but this guy had like 3 tattoos on his arms...:rotfl:

I know it seems weird, and a lot of people comment on this, but....

a) sometimes you just have wicked bad associations with shots from childhood - it's not really rational

b) tattoos don't really hurt. I mean, kind of, sometimes, if you go over a bony knob (why did I get my first tattoo over c7?) but it's just different than an injection/IV.

No offense at all! Just guess I thought a man without underwear was like a car without seat belts.

It was inevitable that he was headed for a zipper collision someday, even without a fishing hook....

I have two.

First, it was a quiet day on the ward, so all the nurses and a doc and his registrar were standing around, chatting. The doctor went to gesture with his pointed finger at "her in there!" and managed to connect the very tip of his finger firmly with the ward clerk's throat. Not funny at the time, since she ended up in tears and gasping for air, but sooooo funny later. Even the ward clerk was laughing.

The other one was not quite so funny as just weird. A guy cut his left hand off on a band saw, completely severed it. He picked it up and told his colleagues "Quick, give this to the boss!" You can just see the scene:

"Boss, I've got an urgent delivery for you" (plop as the hand drops onto the desk)...

They reattached the hand and it's looking great. Really good limb obs, movement and sensation. Hilarious.:uhoh3:
