Funding for EC

Nursing Students Online Learning

I'm trying to get through this program as quickly as possible. The only thing standing in my was is having enough money to pay for exams. If you have any advice that would be greatly appreciated.

If you have not enrolled yet, come july there will be package pricing for enrollment, practice exams, nursing exams, fcca, graduation fee for 1550 for the first year - and it can be split into as many as 12 monthly payments. If it takes longer than a year there are other fees, but it really depends on where you are with your exams.

If you have already enrolled - perhaps your employer can assist you - I have read on here a few people who are going this route.

I am paying for mine via student loans - Ok - I know you can't get student loans for this program, but I am also currently working on getting my MBA, and since I knew I never would get Excelsior done otherwise I took a little more out than I needed to help pay for Excelsior.

I would also advise waiting to enroll until after July 1 so that you can take advantage of this new program. You should contact the school regarding any type of available financial aid. They give out scholarships, but you have to apply for financial aid just like at any other college. Then there are private loans and use of your credit cards. Good luck.

I'm already enrolled and have taken 3 exams. I wish I would have known about the new stuff. :( darnit! I did get a $600 grant/scholarship that paid for 2 of the exams. That was a big help. I have applied for numerous nurse asst. jobs but haven't had any luck. I even called HR at the University hospital but never got a call back. I feel like I'm running out of options.

I know quite a few people who either use an existing credit card or apply for one (myself included)---my credit card is solely for the purpose of school fees (not covered by scholarships). So far Ive charged about $750 at an APR of 8% I think. I tried to apply for the student loans on the schools website and was denied. My exam fees were covered by a Dept of Defense account for Military Spouses (CPNE included) so I will be charging CPNE related expenses (study aids, workshop, and travel expenses too). I know most people dont have all that money sitting around and its hard to get student loans for this program unless you have perfect credit and basically no debt--those companies arent going based off of need, they are going based off of credit and all. Good luck with your funding.

I used a credit card to pay. Now I have the joy of paying all 7k of it back. Yikes!:uhoh21: The sacrafices that one makes. I hope things work out for you.

well, I know I can't get a credit card and even if I could the interest rates would kill me. I'm back at the drawing board. Does anyone know of any grants that are out there other than the Pell?

If your motivated and sign up for the ADN package that EC is offering starting today, They can break the payment into 12. The cost is $1550 so that will be a 129.00 per month. It includes Enrollement fee, graduation fee, 4 nursing exams and 4 practice test. This is the best deal that I have ever seen EC offer. The only catch is that they will charge you an additional $1500 at the end of 1 yr if you have not completes all your exam. This option is for very motivated people who can finish all the exams in one year.

Give EC a call and see if they have other options.Sometimes they give scholarships that help.

If all those other options don't work for you, it is probably best that you wait until you can afford it. They don't have federal aid for this program because its a test out program. Hope something works out for you in the end.

this states 4 exams and Registrations at one time......but that it means all the theory exams are covered....damn...i registered in june, has anyone tried to call and transfer into this program>?

anyone confirm this????

anyone confirm this????

yes, I had called and the admission lady told me that the package price of $1560 covers all the exam plus the practice exams, enrollment fees, graduation fee. FCCA exam fees etc... except CPNE. You have to pay for CPNE. she also told me if you finish all your exams including FCCA within the year and if you are waiting for your CPNE only, then you don't have to pay anything for the second year. Other wise the second year package price is $1440.00. Hope I got you questions answered.

i actually called the other day to see if I could be switched over to this plan, and they said they do it on a case by case. I got approved since I enrolled in June 2009 and have all of my general ed classes done and only Nursing theory, if you want to switch over, definately give them a call and see. I am now goin to save close to $3k or more....I love EC. Thanks
