Fun end of year complaints

Published

Woo! The last weeks of school when teachers and students have all had enough! Let the crazy complaints roll!! What are the most off the wall student complaints you've had?

My favorite end of year health office visits came from the same 5th grade student with a history of coming to the health office for weird crap about 2 days apart.

Number 1

Student: (standing in doorway of health office) It feels like all my bones are turning to mush

Me: ....uh

Student: Like, mushy.

Me: Well, you walked down here just fine and you're standing which uses your bones... so I'm pretty sure you're gonna be ok.

Student: ....

Me: Head back to class now.

Number 2 (I'm now wise to her)

Student: My earlobes feel squishy

Me: That's not a thing. Go back to class.

At 2:20pm (dismissal @ 3:05) - "I have an ingrown toenail and it hurts"

I asked her what she would like me to do about it (she has had it for a while now) and her reply was "Well, my mom usually runs her fingernail under it to relieve the pressure"

Yeahhhhhhhhh NOPE.

I just cut one of the plastic pull ties off the thumb of a HS student. Another student and he were joking around and pulled it very tight. Thumb was already very red.

My wire cutters squeezed in nicely. But really, kid? You're in HS.

HS kid stuck a christmas tree light in electrical wall outlet...

Wasn't harmed, but was very anxious after incident. NO KIDDING.

I just had a parent call me wanting me to check on her 4 year old son to see if he has poison ivy because he has been staying with his Aunt and Uncle the last two days and "They just called me to let me know they all have Poison Ivy. I want to know if he has it so I can pick him up. I don't want him to spread it to the other children." No rash, just a little mosquito bite on his neck. ?‍♀️

It was nice to have a parent not want to infect the other children though....

I suspect the Aunt and Uncle she is talking about is another parent who yesterday called me wanting to know if her child needed to go into "quarantine" for a Poison Ivy rash on her cheek.

Just had a K student walk in and tell me "When people talk loud it makes me cough". Lots of therapeutic silence after that one!

But poison ivy is not contagious. ?
