Hi everyone!

I am freaking out about starting school in the fall so to ease my mind I wanted to see if anyone had any fun book cover ideas? Has anyone made their own book covers? Anyone found any cool book covers? I thought it might be a fun project to kill some time.

Thanks!

I haven't seen a book cover since high school, lol......and if any of my classmates took the time to make one, they weren't studying enough! :) Nope, never saw one in 3.5 years of school.

Here's a tip!

Although I didn't make any book covers...

I got all of my texts three-ring hole punched (at kinkos) and bound them according to what I would need. (Vs carrying 50-75 lbs of books a day, I took one binder with the stuff I would need)

You can "decorate" a page to put in the see through part of a binder (in the front\side\back). It is so much easier!

I haven't dealt with book covers since highschool....

Though in high school I use to make book covers out of fun wrapping paper. They had to be replaced a little more often than brown paper bags, but they were always bright and fun.

They actually sell bookcovers at B&N and target--kinda nifty but I didnt buy cuz I felt a little old for them? Yet I would think someone else having them would be coolish.

My mom always made mine w/ wrapping paper covered in contact paper to keep it nice. They were awesome! :) That was back in elementary school tho'!

One side of my family is English, so I grew up with satirical comedy and I'm sure my personality reeks of it. I love the Ferengi Rules of Acquisition and I have lists of bizarre and funny bumper stickers lines or sayings. What I do for notebooks, and you could do this for bookcovers too, is pick a particularly satirical one and then go over to Clipart.com and pick out a good piece of free clipart to go with it and create a cover for my notebooks that slides into the front clear plastic pocket cover.

For example, on one I had "Welcome to **** Creek--Sorry, we're out of Paddles" and a picture of a guy in a boat and for one of my math notebooks "On the other hand, you have different fingers". Another of my favorites is "When the chips are down, the buffalo is empty" and I have a nice clipart picture of a buffalo to go with it.

I had to have hyperbaric oxygen treatments last year. They are so boring! Every day I made up little clip art and funny things on my computer to take in with me because once you're in the hyperbaric chamber, you're ways of communication are pretty limited. It often got pretty cold in the chamber and a couple of times the technician and I forgot to get a blanket in the chamber before it was sealed shut and pressurized, so I left a coupon entitling the holder to one FREE blanket upon presentation to Hector (my technician) with specific instructions that it was only good before the hyperbaric chamber was sealed. I left it on the little ledge outside the control panel where he didn't find it until he had closed the door and had started the compression. I couldn't hear him laughing, but I could see it.

I buy my the pre-made cloth covers for my daughter (in high school.)

Even when I was in high school, I'd turn the book covers inside out and have a plain white cover to write all over. lol

I think I may go with the debound idea. :D

(That is, once I come to the conclusion that I really will be going so I can ruin my returnable books status.) :chuckle

I can't make myself do it yet, nor open the software. :uhoh3:

I usually buy my books early (I tend to order them online because I find better deals there).

Sometimes I like to make collages of magazine clippings (and other clippings or pictures) on plain book covers. I cover it up (or protect it) with wide, clear tape (kinda like packing tape or duct tape width... dunno what kind of tape it is). It's also fun to do with the plain binders that don't have the clear plastic inserts on the covers.

i've always liked wrapping the books with old magazine pages of things that interested me. Then I would cover the book with a funky color or pattern cellophane. I'll do one sometime this weekend and find a way to get a link.......:)
