Hanging on by a thread
Hi everyone. I'm a new grad and I just started my 12 week fellowship in the ED about 2 weeks ago. I am feeling very frustrated and down on myself and was hoping I could get some insight on how some of the more seasoned nurses felt when they were in my situation. I know I have a LOT LOT LOT to learn, but the feeling that I know nothing right now is daunting and is making me doubt myself. Did anyone else feel this way? What did you do to help? I am confident that one day I will be a great ED nurse, but what can I do in the meantime as I feel completely drained and stupid, for lack of better words. Ugg.

Another Med Calc Question -Sorry! =(
I am stumped on one more math question. ... A new medication, X disodium, comes as a powder which must be reconstituted as follows: For IV use: Add 24 ml of sterile water for injections, USP. Each 2.5 ml of resulting solution contains 500 mg of X. Prior to administration, dilute further to desired volume with an appropriate IV solution. How many ml must be injected into a 100 ml IV bag of NS to equal 1.5 g of X? __ ml? I am getting too caught up in all the info and don't really know what to do with it all.

Can anyone suggest some simulated NCLEX exams and where I can find them? I have been doing regular practice tests but was wondering if there was one available that will adjust questions as you go like the NCLEX does. Any help would be greatly appreciated! The NCLEX is

Starting ICU Preceptorship---need advice
Hi all, At the end of this week I am starting a 96 hour preceptorship in the ICU and I am nervous like never before. I want to be on top of my skills and knowledge.....can anyone suggest some things that I NEED to know (or things that would be helpful) that I can study before I go into it. I am a senior BSN student with some clinical background but I have never been in the ICU. Any advice or recommendations are welcomed with open arms! :thankya:

about the nursing program in Shenandoah University
Hey! I am actually attending the Shenandoah 2nd degree program in Leesburg right now (smack in the middle, actually) and I can honestly say that I have been happy with the program so far. Like I said, I am in the second degree program, which is not on the main campus, but I have heard from the hospitals that we have been to that Shenandoah Nursing students are highly recommended, they are seen as very professional, and have a great reputation in the community. As for all the stuff about moving around your credits and whatnot I don't really know what that other person was talking about so I can't give you my opinion on that. I can tell you that I have never heard of such I thing before though (at Shenandoah or any other school for that matter). Also, we just got a new school president and she is an amazing person who is very involved in the student body affairs. If you have any other Q's feel free to ask! =)

Anyone attending Shenandoah Accelerated BSN?
*Bump* Still looking for any classmates =(

Do they make these?
WoW! Thanks for all the input. Yes, this is a uniform for clinicals. They have a "suggested" pant that we can order but they are AWFULLLL! :barf01: Not sure if anyone is familiar with the Cherokee Boxer Style Pants....the waist band is like 4 inches thick and rides up to your chest! Not to mention the legs are tapered like 80's style....ugg. Just my opinion though. I am totally going to try Walmart....is there anything that store doesn't have? I will also try the other suggestions. I really appreciate it!

Do they make these?
Hi everyone! So I was wondering if anyone knows if someone makes a low rise flare (or straight leg....no tapering) scrub pant that does NOT have a draw string and does NOT have cargo side pockets on the legs???? My nursing uniform seems to be kinda strict = no drawstring scrub pants and no cargo pockets! I have been looking all over the place and I have given up :angryfire .....maybe someone on this site knows of a pair??!! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
