Anybody applying for the nursing program at FSW for the spring in 2017? I plan to take my TEAS sometime August or September, does anyone know what the passing score is? And have you finished all your prerequisites and general ed? The only prereqs I have left to do is A&P2, nutrition, and micro. But still have all the general eds left to do. But you don't have to have all the general eds finished before applying right? Sorry, I'm new at this.
Congrats to all those who have been accepted for the Spring semester at FSW. I'm just curious, How many of you guys had to apply multiple times before getting accepted? Did any of you get accepted without having all of the pre-req (30 credits) classes completed? I know they say you only need A&P 1 and Statistics completed in order to apply but I'm wondering how realistic it is to be considered....
Thanks

Hi!! This round of applications was a little different than previous semesters, IMO. There were only about 150 applicants ( half the amount of last semester), it was the first cycle that used TEAS scores only, and it was also the first that required STATS instead of any college math.
I personally only had 6 prereqs done at the time I applied. A lot of others on here also did not have everything done. The TEAS score is going to make a huge impact on your total points on the app. This was my first time applying.
From everythjng I've read on here it seems spring is always less competitive and Charlotte campus usually ends up having the least that select it as first choice.

Thank a lot for your response!
I just started my pre-reqs this fall and am working full time while completing them. I'm planning on applying for spring 2018 and by then I hope to have 4 of my classes completed by then (A&P 1 and 2, Mic-B, and Stats).
The Charlotte campus is pretty much my only option since the others are too far from me, so I'm glad to hear that It sounds like its the least competitive (for the most part). When you say 150 applicants do you mean spread out over all campuses?
So for the future, you see the TEAS score as the main determining factor for being accepted? perhaps that's not to discriminate to those who have completed less of their pre-req classes..
Thanks again for your input.
Hey guys, I just bought the medical documents on castle branch. I'm a bit confused, does each requirement need separate documentation for when we upload? And when I go into the doctor I just request the documentation for each requirement (like chicken pox and measles)? I hope I'm making sense here :/

You're welcome! The 150 applicants is between to three campuses... So numbers were very low this time around considering there are about 96 seats total between all three.
Do you know where to find the admission tally sheet? If not I can send it to you. I wouldn't say it's the main factor because they look at total points applied with, but your TEAS score can give you 7 points on the low end and 40 on the high end... So you can see how this would drastically alter your total. GPA is another big factor. They only use your prereq GPA, not your overall.
While those 4 classes you listed are the hardest IMO... Just as a suggestion you may want to try and take some of the easier ones as well so maybe you can double up on your course load? I'm taking Nutrition this semester and before I got into the program I was REALLY regretting not taking it with my other two classes over the summer. It's online with Prof Davies and the course load is very minimal. It would have been very manageable to add with stats and AP1 for me, while working full time. One extra class gives you 3 more points... Which doesn't sound like a lot but trust me when I say you will obsess over those 3 points when you apply.
Also... It's not listed anywhere on the site but in our program packets they tell you if you haven't taken Comp 1 or AP2 you will have to take them WITH your nursing courses the first semester. So you want to for sure get those out of the way ahead of time. Same rule applies to psych and human development... If not done already then they need to be taken with second semester nursing courses.

You can ask for titers to be drawn for all of the required vaccines. That will tell you what you're still positive for and what you're low on. Each document does need to be uploaded under the requirements separately though. Pain in the butt. Not sure why you can't just send it all together.

Thanks again for all the help.
I forgot to mention that I plan to have comp 1 done as well. How did you find the work load for statistics compared to A&P? How about Microbiology compared to A&P?
Its good to know that they make you take those classes with the nursing school classes if they aren't already finished. So from what you are saying (if I understand correctly) you dont have the option of completing our unfinished pre req classes during the summer semester? From what I understand the nursing program classes are only during the fall and spring semesters, is that correct?
I see what you are saying about trying to get as many classes finished for the sake of points and ease of work load if accepted. On one hand I don't want to apply to early because I don't want to have too many classes that I have to take in addition to nursing school... On the other hand I don't want to wait too long in the event that I don't get accepted on the first (or even second) attempt...
How many scrubs are we supposed to have? I went to Hamilton in ft Myers and I asked the lady working there, and she told me only 1. I only ordered one, but am seeing some of you guys ordered more. Lol should I go back??
Yeah I thought it was funny because I asked how many polos to buy and she said most get 1. I only ordered one polo but I did get 2 sets of scrubs. I would think at least 2 sets to be safe since they're white lol.

Anyone have any input on purchasing the books used instead of from the bookstore? I was going to ask Wendy but didn't want to bother her if someone here already had an answer.
