Florida Southwestern State College formerly Edison State College. I started thread for FSW but it is full with spring applicants. So I decided to start a new one for this upcoming fall.
Who is joining me next fall in nursing?
I plan to apply for Part-time or Lee full time. I have one more semester of pre-requisites. I am taking A&P 1, Micro, College Algebra and Nutrition. Kill me now. lol A full time semester of craziness but almost done after that hopefully with pre-requisites with the exemption of A&P 2 and a humanities class.
I plan to take the Hesi in mid Feb or march and retake if needed at the end of April. Schedule has been posted and I plan to study a lot this winter break. So excited but so nervous.
Ok cool I'll just get it done at my dr. Then, do you know how much it is where your going for all the Titers? The reason I'm so anal about it is cause I'm not making very much money since it's off season right now, so trying to pick up shifts to afford it.
I put a detailed info comment in about tge pkaces and costs...hope it helps
ok thankyou ! 'm confused about needing the anti hbs titer and if I have mmrx2 do I need rubella, rubeola, mumps filled out where it says if I'm immune :MMR × 2.....fill out both blanks with the date (you will only see rubella immune and rubeoala immune if you got the titer) if you did, fill that blank out too with the date) its basically saying you are immune because you got the vaccines)
Anti Hbs titer: this is only for Hep B vaccination...if you got the Hep B vaccine (3 shots ) fill in the blanks....if you got the titer (anti hbs) fill in the date where it says immune...if you did not get the vaccination or the titer, leave it blank.....these are not required, you sign the waiver from the nursing handbook and you can get them at any time you want....it is important to get the Hep B more than it is the Hep A (per the hospital nurse)
Sorry for all the posts but hopefully they help!
Vaccinations and titers through lee employee health:
They will do the school physical for $25, bring your shot records with and you MUST make an appointment for this #239-424-2000 ask for employee health (if you do not have all your shot records, get them done first, you must have these) the eye color test is included with the school physical
They will do all the titers first to see if you are immune or not. If you are immune, that means you have been vaccinated or have had the disease. They do not want to give you unessasary vaccines.
Titers:
Rubella $35
Rubealo $35
Varicella $35
This is for MMR and chicken pox vaccines. If immune, input the date of the bloodwork. It will say if you are immune to rubella, rubeaola and/or chicken pox. You could be immune to one but not the other, in that case, you will need the vaccine (pricing and details below)
TDAP $49
PPD $15 with acceptance letter
Influenza...they are not giving these out!! We are required to get them however...your doctor is the best option because your insurance will cover it, walgreens, cvs, etc...we will have to get them again in October, at which time we may be able to get them through lee employee health
Hep A: will not give vaccine or titer unless you are an employee of lee and traveling out of the country
Hep B: titer first $55, if immune fill in blank with lab work date, if not immune, series is as follows:
$70/shot, there are 3 total
1st shot $70
2nd shot $70 ( 1 month after 1st shot)
3rd shot $70 (6 months after 2nd shot)
CVZ (chicken pox) first they will give the titer $35, if immune, fill in blank where it says immune with lab bloodwork date. If not immune, the vaccine will cost $85 (2 shots)
I believe the second shot is within 6 months of the first) the titer is the best option because its cheeper and most of the peopke our age either had the vaccine or tge disease)
MMR:first they will do the titer
35 each (×2), if immune place dates in immune blank under rubella and rubeola
If not immune or only immune to one or the other the vaccine is $60 (×2) if both are needed
Again: hope this helps to clear up any confusion and helps you get tge best pricing possible!
(Your doctors can give these vaccines as well, however most of them charge extra because they pay out of pocket for them)
I'm really confused about the difference between the Hep B #1,2, & 3 shots VS the Anti-HBs shot. Can anyone explain this to me?
If you never had the three Heb B then go ahead and gets shots. If you dont have your vaccination record, you have to get a titer to know if you have it or not. However, its not required.
Thanks Kat for the info. Really helpful.
I got physical done with my TB and Tdap today with doctor. My doc didn't have flu shot. I have called pharmacies around and no one has it. Dang it, I do not want to go to health dept. But I guess I have to anyways because I want to get Hep A as well.
I know have to get varicella titer since I have no documentation for that. My doctor gave me paperwork to get it done at lab Corp or quest. But since LMHS is $35, I will get it done there.

If your doctor gave you the script to get it done, your insurance should cover it....save some dough!!
Thank you! I just figured it all out. I had my Hep B vaccinations back in 1997 and had the titer done and just received word that I am no longer immune so looks like I'll be getting the series again. Since I'm not immune anymore, I plan on putting the new #1 date for Hep B, but not sure what to put for the anti-hbs titer.. Maybe non-immune? and just put a note that I am receiving the series again? This paperwork is too much lol
Update on my health report!
I dropped everything off at my doctors office a few hours ago to fill out what he can for free. He'll give me a call when it's done
Then I'll be going to employee health services next week to finish what I need.
It's actually much simpler than all the paperwork asks for. Like Kat said, you don't need a "physical" at all. The mistake of going to get a whole physical almost cost me 100s of dollars
It's basically like a health scavenger hunt

Really? I didn't think my insurance would. I am going to find out. My insurance didn't cover the Tdap in the office and i had to pay for it. I would saved like $5 at LMHS but I figured it wasn't worth the hassle.
I'm going to call labcorp and quest tomorrow and see what they say.
Pockets.
