Florida Southwestern State College formerly Edison State College. I started thread for FSW but it is full with spring applicants. So I decided to start a new one for this upcoming fall.
Who is joining me next fall in nursing?
I plan to apply for Part-time or Lee full time. I have one more semester of pre-requisites. I am taking A&P 1, Micro, College Algebra and Nutrition. Kill me now. lol A full time semester of craziness but almost done after that hopefully with pre-requisites with the exemption of A&P 2 and a humanities class.
I plan to take the Hesi in mid Feb or march and retake if needed at the end of April. Schedule has been posted and I plan to study a lot this winter break. So excited but so nervous.
Update on my health report!I dropped everything off at my doctors office a few hours ago to fill out what he can for free. He'll give me a call when it's done
Then I'll be going to employee health services next week to finish what I need.
It's actually much simpler than all the paperwork asks for. Like Kat said, you don't need a "physical" at all. The mistake of going to get a whole physical almost cost me 100s of dollars
It's basically like a health scavenger hunt
Yes, it's a scavenger hunt. But it will be worth it in the end.
Hey, part-timers, what are you getting for pants to wear with polo? I am not getting my uniforms just yet until my financial aid in fall comes in. Since I am not buying scrub pants, will any khaki or white pants work? I have one pair of each and I don't want to go out and buy anything if I don't need it. This nursing school is getting expensive, lmao.
Really? I didnt my insurance would. I am going to find out. My insurance didnt cover the Tdap in the office and i had to pay for it. I would saved like $5 at LMHS but I figured it wasnt worth the hassle.I'm going to call labcorp and quest tomorrow and see what they say.
I woyld, its blood work, not the actual vaccine

They said any ehite or khakis would be fine... Im using mine, they said that would be fine...no stains, tears, etc
Sorry for all the posts but hopefully they help!Vaccinations and titers through lee employee health:
They will do the school physical for $25, bring your shot records with and you MUST make an appointment for this #239-424-2000 ask for employee health (if you do not have all your shot records, get them done first, you must have these) the eye color test is included with the school physical
They will do all the titers first to see if you are immune or not. If you are immune, that means you have been vaccinated or have had the disease. They do not want to give you unessasary vaccines.
Titers:
Rubella $35
Rubealo $35
Varicella $35
This is for MMR and chicken pox vaccines. If immune, input the date of the bloodwork. It will say if you are immune to rubella, rubeaola and/or chicken pox. You could be immune to one but not the other, in that case, you will need the vaccine (pricing and details below)
TDAP $49
PPD $15 with acceptance letter
Influenza...they are not giving these out!! We are required to get them however...your doctor is the best option because your insurance will cover it, walgreens, cvs, etc...we will have to get them again in October, at which time we may be able to get them through lee employee health
Hep A: will not give vaccine or titer unless you are an employee of lee and traveling out of the country
Hep B: titer first $55, if immune fill in blank with lab work date, if not immune, series is as follows:
$70/shot, there are 3 total
1st shot $70
2nd shot $70 ( 1 month after 1st shot)
3rd shot $70 (6 months after 2nd shot)
CVZ (chicken pox) first they will give the titer $35, if immune, fill in blank where it says immune with lab bloodwork date. If not immune, the vaccine will cost $85 (2 shots)
I believe the second shot is within 6 months of the first) the titer is the best option because its cheeper and most of the peopke our age either had the vaccine or tge disease)
MMR:first they will do the titer
35 each (×2), if immune place dates in immune blank under rubella and rubeola
If not immune or only immune to one or the other the vaccine is $60 (×2) if both are needed
Again: hope this helps to clear up any confusion and helps you get tge best pricing possible!
(Your doctors can give these vaccines as well, however most of them charge extra because they pay out of pocket for them)
Wow thankyou! For me the place doing my shots looked up my records and they gave me vaccines I was missing so now I have all the vaccines needed(with mmrx2 instead of rubeola and rubella) but I have 0 titers that should be okay right ??

When did you get the titer done?
Most people who have had the 3 series should stay immune...do you have the dates for all 3 shots? If so, i would put those dates on the health record and attestation form...deal with the non immune issue ofcourse but atleast you have the time. Most people who have had the vaccines would not have a titer done. If you do, its through your employer and they would pay for it. I had the shots in 99 and they have never asked me to get the titer for it done. I would talk to lee employee health or barbra ward through the school
Yes health department has the influenza shot, but i just spoke to barbra and told her that lee along with most pkaces are not offering it until flu season. I was told by the numerous pkaces ive calked, they will begin again giving them out at the end of next month....walgreens is about $25
