Florida Southwestern State College formerly Edison State College. I started thread for FSW but it is full with spring applicants. So I decided to start a new one for this upcoming fall.
Who is joining me next fall in nursing?
I plan to apply for Part-time or Lee full time. I have one more semester of pre-requisites. I am taking A&P 1, Micro, College Algebra and Nutrition. Kill me now. lol A full time semester of craziness but almost done after that hopefully with pre-requisites with the exemption of A&P 2 and a humanities class.
I plan to take the Hesi in mid Feb or march and retake if needed at the end of April. Schedule has been posted and I plan to study a lot this winter break. So excited but so nervous.
Im with ya. Im so nervous today. I kept dreaming about hesi last night and didnt sleep. Tonight I think I'm going to bed early and taking sleeping pill or I wont sleep and feel exhausted like last time and not function right.
But after that its going to eternity. Thank goodness I have lots projects around the house to do to keep me busy. Haha
Bones. Know where bones are. Know the little jingle "mitosis happens everywhere even your toe, meiosis happens in your OH!" Know parts of the brain, know hormones, master gland, where are the hormones produced, and basic anatomical words. Biology was alright. Anatomy seriously killed me this time around.
Honestly, I don't remember if it was harder since I last took it in September. Study DNA codes and what they match. That was one of my questions I remember. Know all parts of the cell and what it does. I scored over 95 in English, Grammar and Vocab so unless it's not your first language, don't worry about it too much. Know math ratios! I had like 6 of those! Did well on the section but ratios kill me. Wish they gave you a copy of the questions so you know what to study.I'm going to apply anyway. One nursing student told me they call her class the C class because that was the average to get in. Hopeful thoughts! If I don't get in, I'll be retaking the HESI before the Oct deadline. I'll just start reading my bio book cover to cover.
If you go onto the evolve website that you had to register with in order to sign into the HESI, they break down each subject and section and you can view and download the free study guide.
Hope you all do well on the HESI. May 11th was my first attempt taking it and I got an 87.67%. I'm applying for Lee Transitions RN. They only have 12 seats and Lee day Entry RN has 48 seats. I hope we all get in! Best of luck to all of you!! I'm sure we'll all be posting on here a lot, up until we all find out if we get accepted or not. :***:
Good luck tomorrow too! It takes me almost an hour to get to the Lee campus. I'm thinking that may be a little too far for the next two years of classes, but I think I may apply for the part time option as my second choice. I mostly just want to get started so I can be closer to finishing. A part of me wants to just go to whichever one accepts me, regardless of how far it is lol.
I feel that way too. I'm at the point where I just want to get a seat. I'm applying for transitions which is only offered full-time, no part-time option (only 12 seats are offered to transitions students is what I've read on another thread)... Lee campus is my 1st pick (15 minutes away), Collier is my second (42 miles away from me in Naples- but that's where I grew up so I'm more comfortable driving to Naples than Punta Gorda) Charlotte campus is my 3rd choice; Its 30 miles away from me. I can't imagine driving 40 miles to Naples exit 101 from exit 136 4-5x a week though. But I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end.

Well if it makes your decision any easier my Nursing Advisor told me that there were no transition options for the Charlotte campus. I was thinking of going to a tech school to transition from LPN, but then she said I would have to go to Lee. I live quite literally five miles away from Charlotte, so that's my first choice. Lee is about 40 miles for me, so I completely agree with you about the mileage (and I really hate the traffic!) I'm just trying to decide if that's a drive that I'm willing to make 4 to 5 times a week for such a long time, as you mentioned. I want to get into the program badly, but it may be worth it for me to just wait for a seat at the Charlotte campus if I don't get it this fall.
Good luck on your decision making, feel free to message me if you need anything or just need to bounces thoughts off of someone!

Thank you for that info. I totally forgot that Charlotte doesn't have transitions! That does make it easier. Best wishes for your nursing school journey! My email is [email protected]
