hey girl - you have to have 15 posts before you can send a private message (PM), but you can receive them so I'm gonna send you one now!! I have an itouch my mom gave me a couple months ago as an early Christmas gift (she got an iphone and didnt need her itouch anymore). I didn't think I'd use it, but now I'm glad I have it and I can use it in the program. I'd recommend the itouch unless you can afford the iphone (I can't afford the monthly charge for that!). Anyway I'm sending you a PM now...

Thanks for the tip about the iphone. I know someone in the 2-yr program and am going to ask him for recommendations as well. I will email you soon about getting together! Good luck with your garden. That's on my to-do list one of these days - too pricey buying organic all the time.

Congrats to both of you on your acceptance into the program! I'm applying for Spring 2011 and wanted to ask you guys if you had any advice on which study guides were the best in preparing for the HESI A2 Test. Thanks for your help! Good luck!
Thank you PetroNole! I actually responded to your Q on another thread, so hopefully you'll see that... FSU seems like a great nursing school so far, by the way - I am in one of the classes now and the teachers are amazing - very supportive and want you to succeed.
Good luck on your studies!
That's great! Ya, I have to take Pathophysiology either this Summer or Fall. How is that class going? Any recommendations on professors? I got your message on the other post, thanks, I will contact the Testing Center. Did you only take the HESI once? Also, other than the study guide they provide, how else did you prepare? Thanks so much for all your help :)
Patho is great - a lot of material to read & study, but interesting stuff. The instructor I have is EXCELLENT - i highly recommend taking her if you can.
I only took the HESI once. I think I read somewhere that you have to wait 6 months to take it again, or something like that... The testing center could probably give you more info.
The books I used to study were:
Nursing School Entrance Exam (CliffsTestPrep)
and
Nursing School Entrance Exam (Learning Express Education Exams: Complete Preparation Gudies)
I basically needed a refresher b/c it had been a while since I'd taken my sciences, but the test wasn't that bad!
Ok, great! Thanks so much for all of the information. I REALLY appreciate it! Do you have any idea what the average GPA or HES A2 scores were for the ABSN Program for Spring 2010? It makes me nervous how they only accept like 24 people, I wonder what peoples scores are like? Thanks!
I have no clue what the stats were for people who applied/got accepted. pbteach might be able to tell you more... I'm sure it's pretty competitive though
Hi, PetroNole,
Just got back into town after being away for 10 days. I checked out the "official" Hesi study guide from TCC and copied it . . . so I would go over it at my own time. As ceekitty said, it really wasn't as bad as we anticipated. My worst fear was chemistry, and I even did pretty well on that. As I remember, on the math, it seemed like it was mostly ratios, so know that well. There is a calculator that you can use. One tip I do have is that the computers all have a headphone set connected to them. At one point, someone's clicking on the computer was distracting to me, so I put on the headphones to block the noise out. I had way more time than I needed, so do take a break for a snack or bathroom if you want. That study guide I used really covered the basics. Good luck! You could contact someone at the school of nursing for details about average GPA, HESI score etc. My average was 94 if that helps. I think they look closely at your science prereq GPA also. What was your first degree in? Let me know if there is anything I can do to help! :) I took the graduate level of Patho - a great instructor last summer.

Hey All,
I didn't know this thread even existed. I am beyond excited about FSU and I look forward to meeting you guys! Is everybody's orientation on Nov 20? Did anyone hear anything about possible financial aid? I stilll have to beging my background check and order my equipment. It's all so pricey! I guess that is what is to be expected? Does it get better?
My orientation is Nov 20 too - it was the only day I could register for, so maybe it is the one for 'seniors' or 'transfers'. I got an email about financial aid from the college of nursing and responded - did you get it? It gave a website to go to and asked if we filled out our FAFSA yet... I've been searching for a while for other scholarships, but haven't found much that apply to me.
I'd get started now on my background check stuff if i were you! I JUST got finished with all of it and i started it the week it was sent to us. Yes it is a lot of expenses right now - i bought the background check, my scrubs, and the school insurance in one week and it was a killer on my bank account! But I think that is it for all the extra stuff for the program. I think from now on it'll just be the tuition and books (I hope!!).
Anyway congrats and I look forward to meeting you as well (:
Hi to you both! I'm so glad I read your last posts, because I didn't even realize an orientation date had been set? Did you receive something from FSU in the mail or email or was it something I should have seen when I registered? I'm mostly done with the paperwork uploading, just need to finish the immunization stuff after my doctor appt. I ordered a stethoscope at Allheart.com - great prices, and I also got an itouch and love it. Hopefully I will meet you both at orientation! Can you please respond with more details about orientation when you have a sec. Thanks! :)
