FSU Accelerated BSN Spring 2010
Good luck, everyone!!!! I remember that feeling, waiting to know SOMETHING! They did give some of us the good news over the phone, so keep on calling! Have a glass of wine and try to relax meanwhile!

FSU Accelerated BSN Spring 2010
Good luck, both of you! Your grades and HESI scores sound really good! I heard a while ago that they had not received that many applications. Hopefully, you will receive some good news very soon! Be sure to post when you hear! :) I'm here to help or try to answer any questions! And yes, we are all very excited to be close to the finish line! One more week of classes, and then our 6-week internship! It's been quite a year, but worth it! Almost a !

jazziphat, Sorry to hear you are running into obstacles. If you still want to pursue FSU, speak to Brenda P. - she may be able to find funds for you through our Dean. This is a challenging program for anyone with young children, but hang in there - we have several parents in our class with 2 yr. olds and they have been successful. We are heading into our last semester, and that feels SO good! Stay in touch and let me know if I can offer advice or help in any way! :)

Some tips for future accelerated students: - memorize normal lab values - learn as much as possible about electrolytes, acid-base - the kidney never goes away - Patho class will be very important so get all you can out of it! - Try to store up on sleep before you start - lol! - Keep exercising to reduce stress and not gain weight like I have with all the hours spent sitting in class and studying! It will be worth it! :) Good luck, and let me or ceekitty know if we can help!

People in my class who took Patho online either took it from FSU or Kenyon College (Ohio). They said that they just found Kenyon by googling online patho classes. Hope this helps! Where ever you decide to take it, I would just check with FSU CON before enrolling to be sure it will transfer. Hope this helps!

FSU Accelerated BSN Spring 2010
Hi! Patho must be completed before the program starts. Some of us took it at FSU, and some other places, some took it online. Also the HESI exam needs to be taken before the application deadline. Our classes begin @ 9 am and end at 2:30 or 4:30, depending on whether we go to the skills lab. During the second part of this semester, we will have 2 full days of clinicals off site, from 8 to 5. We are REALLY busy, but we all love it so far. There are several people with young children (2 mos - 2 yrs old) in our group, and they seem to be managing. You definitely need good time management skills to survive! Let me know if I can help in any way!

FSU Accelerated BSN Spring 2010
Hi Jazziphat,! I think there were relatively few applicants because the program was not heavily publicized. There will probably be more next year, I would think! It was originally planned to start Fall '09, but was postponed to Spring. If I can answer any more questions, please don't hesitate! We start Wed. - wish me luck! Happy New Year to you!

FSU Accelerated BSN Spring 2010
Hi Ceekitty! Happy New Year! Can't believe we will be in classes in less than a week! I called Bill's yesterday, and they told me that the books are in, but they can't sell them quite yet . . . checking on prices? or something. I'm getting my itouch ready too. And also feeling a little nervous. Not having classes this past semester, I've gotten away from studying 24/7. But, at least we won't have to worry about our jobs and studying. Leaving my school was even harder than I'd imagined. I'll really miss the kids. They want me to come back to be the school nurse. (They don't realize that she is not even a CNA!) Well, rest up and enjoy your last days! I'll see you at orientation on Tuesday!

Hi! Sorry I forgot to respond to your last post. I appreciated the textbook info update! :) A friend who is in the 2-yr. program told me that buying the nursing box was actually cheaper than when he priced them individually, so that is what I plan to do. I had planned to call Bill's this week to see if the box was in, but from what you said, sounds like it will be a while. Guess we won't be able to read ahead - oh darn . . . was so looking forward to doing that over the holidays! :*$ Let me know if you hear about books being in! Have a wonderful Christmas and rest up! We're gonna need it!

ceekitty, Thanks for the updates! Glad orientation wasn't too bad. Did you meet anyone from our program? I'm really looking forward to meeting you, as well as the others. I have to return to the doctor on Monday to have them read the TB test, then I can upload all the vaccination stuff and be finished with the uploads! I also need to get shoes. Did you buy them at Helen's? I'm anticipating sticker shock with the books! I'll check it out after Dec. 1 Have a good weekend yourself! I'm sure that you, like myself, are treasuring these last free weeks! :)

Sorry - forgot to respond about the PDA. I would wait if I were you - your Blackberry may be fine. There are several programs that we will need to download/subscribe to for clinicals. The itouch is great, but you may not need to spend more money for it. 24 students are in our class, and about 42 applied as I recall. Yes, I live in Tallahassee - moved here from Naples in 1994. If I can help you get settled in any way, let me know!

It is $57 here. I called the CON today and found out I don't have to go to the FSU orientation because I am a graduate and already attended one. A woman said that the CON will have their own orientation, and she will send out information in the next week or two about that one. Let me know if you need help uploading your documents. As ceekitty said, you need to get going on that stuff asap. Looking foward to meeting you! I'm very excited and anxious to get started too! Have a safe trip back.

FSU Accelerated BSN Spring 2010
I registered several weeks ago, and went back to the site you sent. It wouldn't let me register for an orientation - said I had already attended one. I think I may not need to go to one because I graduated from FSU, but I'll call the nursing school tomorrow, just to be sure. I'll ask them if the CON is having their own orientation for us as well. Will let you know if I find out anything. Are you taking the BLS class on 11/19 by any chance? If so, I'll see you there!

FSU Accelerated BSN Spring 2010
Hi to you both! I'm so glad I read your last posts, because I didn't even realize an orientation date had been set? Did you receive something from FSU in the mail or email or was it something I should have seen when I registered? I'm mostly done with the paperwork uploading, just need to finish the immunization stuff after my doctor appt. I ordered a stethoscope at Allheart.com - great prices, and I also got an itouch and love it. Hopefully I will meet you both at orientation! Can you please respond with more details about orientation when you have a sec. Thanks! :)
