Anyone else applying for FSU's Accelerated BSN program starting Spring 2010?
I met with the admissions a couple of months ago. She said that there were about 80+ applicants and they took in over 30+. She said that if you met the requirements that you would most likely get in. Most of the applicants failed to meet the requirements so they weeded them out quickly. Other did not accept the offer.
Keeping my fingers crossed!
Thanks!!! That how it is here at the school that I was going to go to, but it's a 4 year program for the BSN, so this is way faster! I pray I get in! So are you looking to get into the Spring 2012 ABSN? I want this so bad, but am so nervous that b/c it's a year program I will mess up or not learn all I am supposed to or it be SO hard b/c it's crammed into a year that I fail..lol!!! I will be moving (if I get in) to Tally all by myself and my family is going to stay here at home so I can study and not have any distractions or things to worry about!
Oh yeah 2011Nole, are you taking Patho through Butler right now? If so who is your teacher? I am and man is it HARD!!!!!! The tests are HORRIBLE!!!! I hate how everything is crammed into 8 weeks...I feel like I don't have enough time to study anything and then when I take a test I forget everything, b/c the teacher is just ok!
I am in pathophysiology through Butler right now. I just finished the digestive test.. It was really hard. I am taking it from Elizabeth Luzar. I think she is a really good teacher, I have learned and been able to apply quite a lot to my other classes. But you are right, her tests are crucial! I am hoping to come out ok from this class, but we shall see.
Is this the same class you are in?
I actually have Tiffany Welk and feel that I haven't learned much at all. I find myself scrambling to try & find the answers even though I have read or know the material. I am barely holding onto a B right now & pray I can continue to keep it. I am taking Micro too & I love that class. I have an A and have learned SO much from my teacher. At times things have overlapped, but lately I have been learning about what I skimmed through in Patho, later on in Micro. I wish it would be the other way around and then I wouldn't be doing so bad. I do have to say however that my patho teacher has been very nice b/c I have had family issues and she has worked with me through it all doing whatever she can to help me;0) Are you going to move to Tally or commute?
I'm also in patho through Butler but have Mitch Taylor as my professor. Like you mentioned, the 8 week format is not ideal. I feel like I will not remember anything in a few months. I had dinner with a guy who was in the program back in 2010 and said that there is a lot of review and overlap of the material during the absn - so you get to be exposed to it multiple times. Good luck on finishing up patho! I hope we all get in!! :)
I should have taken it in the spring and maybe it wouldn't have been so intense and so much info to learn!!! Oh well, I am done next week...woo hoo!!!! I did great on all the discussions & made a 100 on my You Be the Teacher report, but these tests are killing me!
Oh good!!!! I was worried about learning in the program! Did he mention anything about hours involved? I am just curious as I have 3 daughters under the age of 5 and although my hubby will be helping out, I want to be able to see them when I can, if I can..lol! I hope we all get in too!!!!
This guy had a 1 year old boy and his wife had twin girls while in the program. :) He worked 20 hours a week (which they strongly recommend NOT doing), and he didn't really have any free time. It seems like you'll have a few hours each night if you don't work, but it's hard to tell. I know I spend all day trying to understand patho, so I'm not sure how quickly I'll be able to grasp the material. He did say that patho is the hardest course, and the fact that we're taking it in 8 weeks just exacerbates that! So if we can survive this, it would be a good sign for the absn.

I graduate Spring 2012 in Family and Child Sciences with a minor in dietetics. I have already taken all the nursing prerequisites minus patho. I will probably end up applying to other ABSN programs because I will be ready to start Fall semester. That is if I don't get into UF for the regular BSN along with FGCU for spring 2012. I'm crossing my fingers. Thank you for the information. I have a year till I would apply because I am finishing up my bachelors still. What are your plans nole2011?
