FSCJ Summer 2014 Hopefuls

Published

Hello, everyone!

Since I have not seen one started on this site, I thought I would go ahead and get the ball rolling. This thread is for anyone hoping to get into FSCJ's Nursing Program for the term starting in the Summer of 2014.

Right. You can apply as soon as you finish ADN without waiting after a year of working.

Ummm I'm going to do this for sure lol! Omg how recent was this change made??? As soon as I get my ADN I'm applying. I guess the school realizes people need BSN right away nowadays...

Thanks for the info .. I do have a question. I have this semester off. I want to use this time to study. Any advise on what to go over ?

Hi Retajet,

Youtube dosage calc for nurses & practice. PM me your email & ill send you the practice sheet we used and the values you have to memorize (L mL Kg Gm Mg Mcg,

1/2 oz = 1 Tablespoon = 3 teaspoons = 15 mL etc) and the med term list you have to know for med term/med abbreviations test within first few weeks.

Watch youtube videos for foley cath & central line dressing change, pay attention to them working in a sterile fields & not breaking them.

Review basic anatomy, bones & muscles. That will all help.

Not sure. A girl in my statistics class last semester was starting BSN spring '14 & had just graduated may '13 with her ADN so not too long ago i guess.

I have the Work Source grant & we were told they wont cover the BSN without a year of working ADN, though.

Hey I'm off this semester, too. What I'm doing to prepare is reviewing the major concepts of anatomy and chemistry as well. Also, i got my CNA license and have started volunteering at different places to start networking and "getting my foot in the door." Many places are requiring experience, so I'm basically trying to get good references and base knowledge in the medical field. Hope to see you this Summer :)

CNA experience will be a huge help!

Thanks so much!! System won't let me do a PM but my email is [email protected] anything you send will be greatly appreciated. Our first term in the summer is the same load cut by 4 weeks so a jump start will be great. I will so be on YouTube looking checking out the videos. Your awesome!!

Everyone helps everyone out. You all pull each other through. You'll learn that fast. :)

Go to Quizlet & type FSCJ Term 1 in the search bar. you will find study guides for the tests to get an idea of what's coming. I use that app for practice just about every day.

Hey guys - I know this may be slightly off topic, but I recently found out that the FSCJ BSN program doesn't require RN experience anymore to apply?

Has anyone else noticed that on the website? ?

I just read that too. Awesome! Stll going to consider UNF for their online BSN but its nice to know that we have more immediate options than just UNF. Thanks for bringing this up :-)

Indeed! The problem is that, when applying, they also want to look at your nursing school transcripts, so just settling with C's probably isn't an option. The good thing is that they don't require the 2,000 hours of experience, which is great, especially considering that BSN is becoming the standard nowadays. Best wishes, everyone! :)
