Hello, everyone!
Since I have not seen one started on this site, I thought I would go ahead and get the ball rolling. This thread is for anyone hoping to get into FSCJ's Nursing Program for the term starting in the Summer of 2014.
Hello all... I'm new to the group I also applied to summer program with 205 points as well as interviewed last week with JU. This waiting game is brutal!!!! The Spring 2014 cohorts started receiving acceptance letters within 18 days. If that holds true for us we could possibly hear something as early as next week!!!??? Good luck to everyone!!

Welcome and congrats on your great score! You have nothing to worry about, you will get in with no doubt. If you don't mind me asking, how did your interview with JU go? Do you know if you are accepted or not yet? If you do get accepted, which school will you choose?
Thanks so much. The interview went well. It's a group interview so it was a total of 3 applicants and 2 professors from the School of Nursing. They ask everyone the same 6 questions and they try to keep it relaxed and informal. After the interview you have to write an essay on a given topic related to nursing.
All the interview will be completed this week and letters will go out before March 12th. I am not 100% sure of what I will do if I get accepted to both. My heart says JU but my pocket says FSCJ.. The school did give me scholarship money but I would still be out of pocket around 30k. I think the best of both worlds would be FSCJ and then go right into the bridge RN-BSN.. I am an older student and want to continue straight through until I get my BSN. So for now I will continue to pray and I know God will show me the path to take:-)

your welcome and that sounds good. Out of curiosity, what was your essay topic about? I was looking into applying to JU too, but I changed my mind and decided to stick with FSCJ for the same reason. I really think that it would be better for you to stick with FSCJ too, so you do not have to worry about the financial part. That is exactly what I plan to do, go through the A.S. program and then go through the RN-BSN bridge.
They give you the lost of possible 5 topics and they range from what is perception of the role of the professional nurse to what are your nursing goals and where do you are your nursing practice in the next 5 years. My topic had to do with what led me to want to become a nurse and what are my future plans. The application process takes several months. I first had to apply and get accepted to the University before I could apply to the program. The good thing is they do offer you monies based on your GPA. They are offering me $20k for the two years and Work source will also give you up to what they would have given you at FSCJ. I love the school but I will more than likely stick with FSCJ and bridge over. Did you complete your AA yet?

oh okay. I am taking my last 3 classes for my AA this semester. My humanities class end on March 7th and Statistics and World Geography ends May 9th.
Does anyone know how's day time schedule gonna be like?
Hi Udikawp,
you will get in with your score so congrats!
i started in Spring
Every Monday is tests for everyone. Usually 2 tests. One at 9:30, one at 10:45 with an hour for each.
The rest will depend on the section you sign up for during orientation. Its a lottery system. Your section is you entire schedule & you stay in the same section the entire program.
You will have Techniques (skills like cath, shots, bed bath etc) from 8-1:30 one day a week, every week.
My Pharmacology is 1-4 and hybrid so we go about every other week. Some sections have pharm 9-12. Still, an average of 6 hours a month.
Concepts (fundamentals) is also hybrid. Three hours (i go 1-4, some sections go 9-12) approx every other week.
Health Assessments is 3 hours once a week.
Depending on your section/schedule you may have one class a day, some sections have 2 classes in one day so they have an extra day off but a very long day. each class is packed with information & there's still SO MUCH left to basically self teach.
You wont chose individual classes or teachers, it all goes by your section. In the lottery i drew like #127 out of 144 so i got what was left, which actually ended up working for me :)
Each section has 12 students so as the sections fill up they close & the latter #'s get what's left.
They expect you to already be proficient in things covered in pre-reqs. Anatomy is huge. There's no review & no time is wasted. You immediately jump in over your head. There are also dosage calc & iv calc tests (not taught) you have to pass to stay in the program. You get one more chance if you make less than 80 the first time. Mandatory score goes up each term. You are out of the program if not passed on second chance. I struggle in math but passed all first time so far. Its not bad, just a lot of pressure.
Not much (actually nothing :) ) is organized, be prepared for that! Keep copies of everything & stay ahead one step, always be prepared.
Hope that helps. Good luck. Feel free to ask if you have more questions.
