Is there anyone planning to apply for FSCJ's Summer 2011 RN program? I am taking A&PI and II next semester with Human Growth and Dev. and Sociology, then I'll apply. I am taking Microbiology during the spring prior to going into the program. I am taking the Nat in September after Chem 1032. What about you?
OMG! Sorry to but in on your convo, Knoxy and K, but I beg to differ. I breezed thru elem. and int. algebra with high A's. Completed them both in one semester. Then I stupidly took college alg. online. HUUGGGEE MISTAKE!! If you are not good at math (your words) DO NOT make the mistake of taking it online. You will LIVE in the math tutor lab, and still struggle. I am a straight A student, math does not scare me, and I BARELY eeked out a B. Based on your screen name you're a guy, so you might not be the same, but I cried so many nights, working on that stupid class!!! LOL
The thing is that the instruction does not translate well from the book/computer as easily as if you had an instructor in front of you explaining it in plain English. PLEASE, take my advice. At the very least you might take a hybrid where you have some facetime w/ the instructor. But ask around. Everybody that I told I was taking algebra online said I was crazy! Seriously. Do yourself a favor. I didn't stress out over ap1 or chem., but college algebra online kicked my butt! And yes, you get videos and stuff, but sometimes there weren't videos for the problems that I was doing, or I was trying to work on the weekend and didn't have access to the tutors.
Think about it. You don't want to screw up your points or lose your mind!

Knox and I have already discussed this over a private message. Thank you for your advice but I made a recommendation based on my professor and my experience with her, her style and the way her class worked, not just online classes in general
I am a summer 2011 hopeful! I am applying with 201 pts so hopefully I can get in. I heard from someone who got in for spring that the cutoff was 196 so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Good luck to everyone!!
The cutoff for spring was actually 194:) I have 202 but Im thinking of retaking the NAT to be safe. 201 should be enough, good luck to u!
77for2011, I agree with you but to each his own. I would not dare take math or science online. I attempted chemistry for Liberal Arts and had to withdraw...I just couldn't get it. I took College Algebra as a hybrid and got an A. I had to have the face to face with the professor weekly in order to get my questions answered. I would have been lost without that weekly lecture. I have had other people highly recommend online courses for things such as AP2 and such but it's just not worth the risk to me. I stress enough as it is.
Good luck to everyone no matter what forum you choose.

I understand what you mean and yes I know how I learn and math is not a strong point for me in general so I wouldn't take it online. I just like hearing other peoples recommendations and opinions of their math classes. I have however taken A&P I&II, medical terminology, HG&D, and my humanities online and got A in everyone. I also took chem as a hybrid and got a C and microbiology as a hybrid and got an A. But math has to be in the classroom for me. Haha and Im actually a female (I have a male dog named Knox :)
knoxyboy,I am taking a hybrid Chem this coming semester. What do you recommend I start studying? I really stink at Chem. I already have my textbook and online access to Owl. I am taking CHM1032C Principles of Gen Chem.
thanks,
NJ
Get a bottle of pepto and take a swig every day before you walk into class. You'll need it. I took the exact same class and it almost killed me. AHHHHH!!!!!!

I would suggest finding a study buddy in the class, that's how I survived! Me and two other girls got together once a week to go over what we were learning and it helped so much! They were fellow nursing prospective's so they understood how important the class was. Just make sure you know how to read the periodic table of elements. Alot of chem is memorizing certain elements and formulas and being able to know which ones make what. Its tough stuff but you gotta do what you gotta do to get through it. This was my second time around at chem, the first time I took it I got an F because I just gave up. Make sure you keep trying no matter how hard it gets!
