FSCJ Summer 2011 Hopefuls

Published

Is there anyone planning to apply for FSCJ's Summer 2011 RN program? I am taking A&PI and II next semester with Human Growth and Dev. and Sociology, then I'll apply. I am taking Microbiology during the spring prior to going into the program. I am taking the Nat in September after Chem 1032. What about you?

Good luck K!!! tell us all about it afterwards...is this your first time taking the NAT? Don't forget to get your rest the night before. :zzzzz

Knoxyboy, did you calculate your total points? I can't wait to be gathering my things for my application..I'll be applying by June 1 for N/W in Fall 2011...I get nervous just thinking about it!

I took the NAT last year and didnt do good. this is my 2nd time.

Im nervous!

I retook the NAT yesterday, my score increased by 7 pts. I turned in my application yesterday too. My total score is 195. If I don't get accepted for the summer, I'll definitely be accepted for Fall. If I don't get in for summer, I'm finishing my AA degree, since I only need 2 classes. Then, I can apply to FSCJ, JU, and UNF.

Thats awesome that you increased it by 7 points, thats how much mine went upthe second time. Im applying with 196 points. Can I double check with you on everything you have to turn in and where? Where do you get the application from? I know I have to attach a copy of my NAT scores and print my transcript. is there anything else?

yes 7 points higher is very good:)

Did you study for it?

Worst case scenario, if I dont do any better on the NAT tomorrow, Ill be applying with almost 202. Im not very confident in this score, so I hope I do better:eek::eek::eek:

Is your 196 with or without Micro?

Well i took the NAT today and increased my score by 5 points:D:D:D:D

That brings my score to 206.48!

Knoxy,

You can download the application from the school's website under RN program and print out an unofficial transcript. Attached it with your NAT scores (1st and 2nd tries) to the application. Turn them in at NS campus blg C, 2nd floor. I think it's C212, but not positive.

Hi all! I'm new to this site. I have a question for you all... hopefully you haven't answered it before. I understand that FSCJ is changing their Chemistry requirement. When I took Chemistry a few semesters ago, we didn't have to have the lab. Now they are requiring the lab, but does anyone know when this will go into effect? I really want to get in for summer but don't know if I should go ahead and retake Chemistry this semester..

I think this has been in effect since 2007 or some such. You have to have chem before you can even apply for the program, and you have to have it before you take microbiology too

K nurse-one-day,

Thanks for the quick response! I know that chem is a prereq. The thing is that I took mine online and when you take chem online at FSCJ they do not offer it with a lab. They have recently changed the chem requirement though and now ask that you have chem with a lab. So it would have to be hybrid/on campus. Since it is a new change I have heard that they will let students with just the basic chem apply for the summer program but not after that.I'm pretty sure that I will be able to get into the summer program, but want to make sure that this chem thing isn't going to hold me back. I just took it last summer and finished micro in the fall.

How many credit hours was the one you took? Do they offer just the lab online or anything?

The nursing page on the website still says you just need any college chem. It doesn't say anything about a lab so you should be okay with what you have. Where did you hear this info from, just out of curiosity?

The chemistry I took was 3 credit hours, it was Chemistry for Liberal Arts (CHM 1020). I haven't been able to find a class for just the lab. I had heard from a friend that they were changing the requirement to where you had to have the one with the lab. I don't like just going from hearsay so I emailed the director last night to make sure it won't be a problem for summer. Yes, online and the old nursing packet that you can pick up from any of the campuses states that it can be any college chemistry. I picked up a new one however when I took the NAT on Thursday (in the testing office) and it now says "CHEMISTRY - CHM 1032C or CHM 1025C" I will let you know what I hear back from the director of the program :)
