FSCJ Summer 2011 Hopefuls

Is there anyone planning to apply for FSCJ's Summer 2011 RN program? I am taking A&PI and II next semester with Human Growth and Dev. and Sociology, then I'll apply. I am taking Microbiology during the spring prior to going into the program. I am taking the Nat in September after Chem 1032. What about you?

I was told that the only time out of counties are considered is if they don't have enough Duvall and nassau people to fill the spots, which never happens. This was told to me by an advisor directly. I am Duvall. I moved here from clay about 2 .5 years ago. To the person that asked, last summers cut was 197.something

out of county are reduced points I think it is like 5-10 I'm not sure exactly, but it not last they still go in the point plan

I am not sure if it is true or not. I have heard it from students around campus and here on the site.

Supposedly if you obtain an AA degree prior to, applying to the Nursing program and if you recv financial aid it puts you under a 150% Rule, that decreases the amount of financial aid given and you have a lot more of out of pocket expenses.

I wonder if this is true though, I heard that if you apply to the Nursing program with an AA degree you have a better chance of getting in... I dont think thats true but I have heard that a couple of time before.

I will have my AA after this semester and I have not been warned of the 150% rule just make sure that you take credits to satisfy both degrees

KT2010- I was curious to know if summer semester cut off would be higher because there are fewer slots or lower because a lot of people want to (or have to) take the summer off. So I looked at last summer's threads and it was 197.96 but with people giving up their seats I think that someone got it with 194.68. I really hope we are in the same ball park this summer!!

Me toooo! I am just tooooo anxious and today was only day one of the waiting game........ I was just looking through the summer of 2010's thread also. They got thiers around the 10th or so if they were accepted. I saw that the summer of 2009 the cut off was 190. something... The points are just getting higher and higher! One of my classmates and his wife applied with 240 and 230 points for this summer term. They both had years of experience in the medical field that they recvd points for...

Hi I just joined the group discussion...I applied for the Summer 2011. I have 202.56 points and I hope that is enough because I just spent two years taking the pre pre pre-requisites and then when I picked up the updated packed date Sept 2010 I noticed now they are requiring chem with a lab...I hope they grandfather the students that are like myself and have been taking pre-reqs because that is all I needed and some classes I had to take over because it had been over five years since I had taken classes such as biology....

I don't think anyone will be grandfathered in because the chem requirement has been in place since 2007. There is a student on here that had a chem class with no lab and they grandfathered her in, but you do have to have a college level chem class

For the Summer semester they are taking any college chem. That's for anyone, not just me :) I'm not sure about high school chem, but you can always call the nursing department if you fall into that category. They are moving towards only accepting Chem with a lab, but aren't sure when they will actually make it a requirement. It's definitely not going to be for the Summer term and they are not sure it will be required for Fall either. Hope that helps!

I think DynamicR was meaning that she/he didnt have any chem at all. You have to have some college level chem since 2007. maybe not with lab but at least a college level chem. I tried to get them to take my highschool chemistry and they wouldnt do it

The Chemistry I took was the one required before Sept...it was a pre pre requisite before you could take Micro...that is why I said that about Grandfather clause because I took what was required by FSCJ. That is not right..just started the new requirement as of Sept of 2010! They need to keep the Liberal Arts Chem for anyone that has been enrolled and progressively fulfilling the requirements....there would have been no way for me to have added that requirement and I just finished the last pre-reqs in December A&P II and Microbiology in aspiration of getting in Summer. I just hope the 202.56 will get me in the Summer program so I won't have to deal with it! Ridiculous! LOL!:coollook:
