Hi all! I just graduated from the UNF BSN-MSN Family Nurse Practitioner Program. I have taken 5 or 6 DNP courses as well. So I think your question was about more information on the program. The first semester of the program is very intense. You will take health assessment, advanced patho, role development of an APRN, and advanced pharmacology. If you are in the full-time program you will be in class once a week. We had class every Thursday. It was from 0800-2100. Some nights we would get out of class earlier. I wrote anywhere from 65-85 pages worth of papers during my first semester in the full-time program. After that semester, you won't have to be in class as long. I think my second semester we were in class from 0800-1600. You complete roughly 150 clinical hours each semester as well. I had a really great experience at UNF. They will place you with a clinical preceptor or allow you to pick your own. I liked this because I did not know of a lot of nurse practitioners prior to entering the program. They also have a high publication rate. During your second semester you will start working on a topic for publication. This looks really nice on your CV. The instructors are very responsive. What other questions do you have about the program?

I will tell you this... for term one you will be purchasing a box of books that cost around 900-1000 dollars. CPR certification varies anywhere from 20-70 dollars. You can pick up a CPR sheet in the nursing department. It will have a list on it of all of the places that you can take the class at. Your blue fscj nursing shirts are 20 (I think, I can't remember). You can buy w/e type of all white shoes that you want. Your uniforms are 25 for the top and they recommend that you buy two. You can buy w/e white bottoms you like. You will need a stethoscope, pen light and pocket protector. Also, a name badge (I think it was 5 dollars). Last but not least, you will need a watch (w/e white watch you like). As far as medical and immunization anywhere you would like to go is fine. You can't have titers done until after you get your letter. Once you get your titers pulled they will let you know the extra immunizations you will need. You need a flu shot and TB test to start things off. I went to my primary care doctor for this but I know other people in the program went elsewhere and paid less. You may want to check the Northside clinic on Dunn Avenue. Hopefully this help. When and where are you taking your cpr class ginnybee???

I got them both off of allheart.com. The sphygmomanometer was 70 I think. I got the Riester Ri- san Aneroid sphygmomanometer and it was 75 and I got the Littman Cardiology III stethoscope and it was 155.

ok, yea I think I am going to try and find something for next week or so. Btw I just bought my stethoscope and sphygmomanometer!

I still have to get my cpr certification. I'm going tomorrow to get my physical and titters. I think I'm going to look into the different places/times for the cpr certification tomorrow afternoon. We should get a group together and go get our cpr certification.
