FSCJ SPRING 2015

Published

Hello, everyone!

Since no one has started a Spring 2015 for FSCJ Nursing, I thought I would start it. I plan on applying the beginning of September I will take the exam in august. I'm very nervous of course. I have a preq gpa of 2.87 but I have an overall gpa of 3.23. Has anyone heard that FSCJ has changed their entrance exam to the HESI A2? Anyone applying to FSCJ hoping to get accepted for the spring?

I have been reading y'all's posts about having children and doing the nursing program. I myself am laying in st v riverside as we speak hooked up to the fetal monitor to see if I am in active labor. I have a two year old daughter and expecting a little boy any day or possibly today lol. I will say it is tough being a parent with kids. I just left my husband of 9 years for reasons I will not say lol but I believe anything is possible!(: especially if you have a good support

system which I do with my mother and mother in law.

I work at St vincents riverside. I will have my baby there as well. I am due soon. I hope all goes well with your delivery. I am also having a baby boy.

We dont have family here. My husband is active duty in the navy so I have to rely on friends but I agree. It is possible. I have found a great support system for when I get accepted and are willing to help when my husband deploys next year

i wish you good luck and hopefully a healthy baby today :)

I spoke with someone that works in nursing office today and was told letters for ADN were not sent out last week and probably will not be sent out this week. The BSN and ADN acceptance letters are handled separately. They said AND letters probably will not go out until a week or 2 before Thanksgiving. :(

Now that’s what I was told! I remember reading the “Fall 2014” forum, and someone said the nursing office told them that letters would not go out until the first or 2nd week in August but they ended up getting them around the third week in July. So I am hoping I was misinformed as well.

Thanks for the info! That really sucks though :( I hope they are just saying that... I really don't want to be rushed with getting everything in and figuring everything out before FSCJ goes on the holiday break.

That would suck if they wait that late but as long as it's an acceptance letter, I will take it lol. And I haven't decided on days or nights yet with my daughter. Does anyone know if n/w does clinical both Saturday and Sunday from 7am to 7pm or is that just an estimate? I still would like to make it to church some. Plus I know if you pick nights, you have to stick with it throughout the whole program (unless you're granted a switch) and I'm not sure I want to stay in n/w the whole 16 months.

That's what I was thinking. We will be rushed due to fscj holiday schedule and not to mention the medical facilities holiday schedule. We also have to get drug screenings and background checks. People do go on vacation. I don't know why I'm aggravated by this information. I am wanting g to get things done and not have to worry about a time restraint and not to mention we still have to go to orientation and from I heard we need about a week of that. I don't understand why we would have to wait forever if they claim that they received less applications than before. This is annoying.

Yes they are sat and sundays. I talk to the current students that have clinical rotations on my unit.

I feel the same as you. I dont like being under a dmall time window. Its gonna be stressful if thats when we get them in. Ill take an acceptance and stress if I have too though. Lol

I agree I'm just ready to know. I can't stand the waiting and uncertainty of knowing if I'm in or not.

I was frustrated about what they told me. I spoke with a friend tonight that finished the ADN and BSN program at FSCJ. She knows they have different admission advisors for the BSN and they are much quicker with their process. She said they are very tight lipped about the application process. She believes only very few people know about the selection status until letters are being prepared to go out. So the person I spoke with in the front office could have just given me generic information. She also said we would still be lucky if we received our acceptance letters a week before Thanksgiving. She remembered a class after her that did not receive their letters until a week before Christmas break. She said they were stressed but excited at the same time.

She went on about how very unorganized the administration part of the nursing program is but it is worth it for her. She said FSCJ has a great repetition and relationship with a lot of the hospitals in the Jacksonville area. Her degree from FSCJ eventually opened many doors for her. And compared to a lot of students from certain nursing programs she felt way ahead of the game especially with skills.
