FSCJ Spring 2012 Hopeful w/???s

Published

Hi everyone. This is my first time posting here. I am in the middle of tackling the pre-reqs for FSCJ nursing program. I am really hoping to get into the SPring 2012 program (fingers crossed!!) But I'm a little confused about something.

I will be taking my last two classes in the fall, Micro and AP2. My advisor told me that I can apply for the program while I am taking these classes....my question is, if I apply to the program before the Oct. 1 deadline how will they be able to calculate my points for Micro and AP2 if I have not yet fully completed those classes? Will I have to wait until the next fall program? I am really hoping that is not the case, but I'm thinking my advisor may have given me th wrong information.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Yep, I just confirmed this (as I said before, I work for the college). It will be next week before the interim director returns and then the letter still has to be approved by her before they are signed....it's possible she will ask for them to be reworded or changed (aka it could take even longer). I was told not to expect them to go out until at least the middle of next week.

This is ridiculous. If you are new in admin then your priority is to your new institution and your students. If there is an emergency that's understandable. However on the calendar, week 8 has come and gone... And I don't know about y'all but I was told 6-8 weeks. Very frustrated because I still want to be able to register and get the classes I want in case not accepted into rn program for spring... And with my va benefits I have more beurocratic tape to jump thru so I can survive. Cmon fscj... A signature? I don't buy it. You can pass authority if you are gone due to emergency...

This is going to mess with my financial situation fscj. If you work at fscj how can this be possible? Messing with people's lives is not cool.

Someone needs to occupy the rn office

Where do you work in fscj

Trust me, I am NOT defending it, but this isn't about someone being new. They hold another position at the college but are pulling double duty in nursing until a new director is appointed. I know what you mean though, trust me. I need to know if it's days or nights because that will impact my job and childcare (knowing whether or not I will have a job in a month is a big deal to me. If I am accepted into days, I have to quit my job :(). I also need to know if I should get my vaccinations, etc, take the BLS class, the list goes on. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do but wait. Believe me, I've tried. The only thing I can say is that although the past 2 months have dragged on, I'm sure that once we start the program the year will fly by!

Yes, I too confirmed it. I confirmed that the program director was there last week until Wednesday...it is this week that she is off and won't be back until Dec. 5th. I was told directly from her 8 weeks from Oct. 1. and yes, as Healy pointed out we are at the 8 weeks already. sigh.....I believe this director is not new, as her name has been on the program for years (even back when I applied in 2003). I too, was told that letters won't be signed until next week. So, if correct, then we won't be looking at getting the letters until around December 9th. Darn!

I work in the back office, in records. But I'm just as in the dark as everyone else here.

That's really funny....occupy RN!

I know... Double duty or not... Out of office ? I'm not trying to hate, I've also got my job to worry about, and a baby on the way in march and it's stressful. But I know patience is a virtue...which is why I have yet to say anything. I just think a schools priority should be it's students and making sure information is disseminated in a timely manner in order for affairs to be straightened out.

I wish we could atleast know when orientation is.

I wish we could atleast know when orientation is.

My best guess would be the week before Christmas. If we aren't getting letters until next week, we need time for shots, fingerprints, etc, there is the holidays, and then the semester starts. If I had to guess, I would say it was the week of Dec 19.

I am not applying for Spring term, but it seems pretty frustrating to not only wait to see if you've been accepted into the program, but also to not be given proper notice and enough time to get your affairs in order.

Well, I do wish everyone the best of luck and PLEASE let us know if you get in and what your scores are :)
