FSCJ/FCCJ spring 2011 hopefuls

I scanned the threads and didn't see one for this class set up yet. I'm applying at the end of the semester. Anyone else?

I originally took the nat in May but my score was 93 plus 96 for grades so I did not apply for the Fall. I retook my nat today and scored 110 so I am applying for the Spring with 206 points. This is my first time applying and I hope and pray that I get in.

Specializes in none.

Hey everybody,

For a while life happened and I didn't think I would be able to apply for the spring semester, but everything changed this past weekend and I'm going to turn in my application tomorrow. It's been a nervewracking semester already; I'm glad my classes finish in November so I'll have time to sit around and bite my nails, waiting for my letter to come.

Good luck to everyone!

Congrats pyanme!! I hope that you get in. I applied with 207.08 points so we are very close. Good luck!!!

Hi, I have a quick question about the NAT. I have already taken it, applied to FSCJ, got accepted twice but had to decline my seat twice. I applied again to start Fall 2010 and was not accepted so I think I need to increase my points to have a chance at Spring 2011. The easiest way I can think of is re-taking the NAT. Can I just re-take a section of the NAT, since I have already taken it? I know they will use the higher of the two scores. I want to just re-do the science portion.

You have to retake the entire test. If you score higher on the science part then they will use that score. But if you have taken the NAT twice already, then your score will get lowered.

Thanks melissalarey, I hope we both get in. Does the nat score lower if you take it more than twice?

I haven't taken it twice. Just once. I was just wondering if I skipped directly to the science portion and left the other portions blank (in essence accepting a 0 for those sections) then I could just re-take the science. I don't mind taking the whole test again though. Thanks :)

Yes I believe it does. The FSCJ website says "Testing more frequently will cause your scores to be invalidated". So I am assuming it means it will stop counting points the more you take it.

I guess you could, but who knows, you might end up scoring more points for other sections, not just the science portion. I retook it and acored very high and superior in all areas and before it was much lower than that. So the 2nd time, all of my areas counted more than the 1st time. You have to pay the $40 either way, so you might as well give it a shot.

what I heard is that they take the highest scores from either time u took the test. For example. If u take the NAT twice, and u score higher on the science portion the first time than u do the second, theyll take the first. If u score higher on reading comp the 2nd that u do the first, then theyll take ur score from the 2nd.

Make sense??

Yes K nurse, that's exactly what they do. They will combine your scores based off of which sections you do better on. The only question is, do you then submit your first and second attempt line graphs for the NAT test when you apply? I didn't have to do that simply because the second time around was higher than the first.

You are right, I might possibly do better on all sections the second time around. Good point.
