I scanned the threads and didn't see one for this class set up yet. I'm applying at the end of the semester. Anyone else?

Your GPA and points are interconnected. Obviously if you have low grades, you will have low points. And if you have low grades you will likewise have a low gpa. But no, GPA carries no weight. They go by the points of your 10 pre-nursing classes only.

Well, yes and no. That's why I'm unsure which way to go. Low gpa does not equal low points if you are only counting points for those pre-reqs listed. The class i failed is a History, so yes, it lowered my gpa, but doesn't get counted in the nursing program point system. now, if you are saying they give you separate points or consideration for your actual gpa as a whole, then it would matter. see what i'm saying????

Well thats what Im talking about, just your pre reqs. Your failure in the history class wont hurt you as far as the nursing program goes, and your gpa as a whole (cumulative or whatever its called) is not considered for the RN program. Neither is your gpa for the pre reqs. Im not totally sure how the clep works, but I think taking a humanities class and trying to get an A would be a better option, seeing as how competitive it is.

I would concentrate on the humanties that are accepted for the program, look at the brochure with the application packet and decide from there. Over all GPA isnt a calculation from my understanding only point basis for each prequisite, sounds like you are spining a lot of useless mud and effort on unecessary efforts, without looking at the brochure though its difficult to tell..however if that is one class you can apply towards your preq's retaking it will erase that "F", correct?and if it is one they do consider for that I would definitely retake it just to get rid of the "F" Hope all that jibber makes sense, it does to me anyway....Good Luck...

I dont believe retaking a class will erase the F, but for sure take one of the ones they accept

Technically no it doesnt erase it , however if you take the same class over and make a better grade then the better of the two grades will be used for GPA computations and that was what I understand the poster to be concerned with. You can actually retake it twice , the third and subsequent times you however must pay out of state tutuion for the class. I am confident on that information , if you doubt me just call an advisor they are the ones that can and will steer you in the right direction...:yeah:

The only grades that matter are your pre-reqs for the nursing program. If you failed a history class, it won't matter one bit. I failed an accounting class which lowered my GPA but it didn't matter since the nursing department only looks at the grades from your pre-reqs needed to get into the program.

Can someone tell me the formula to calculate the points and NAT scores. I cant find my RN application for some reason. GEESH! I will be headed out to North Campus after classes 2morrow. I just took the NAT 2day. :o

Specializes in none.

The formula for the NAT is your academic aptitude score, reading comp, and science added together and multiplied by .64.

The points for your grades are what your grade is (A=4, B=3, etc) multiplied by the number of credit hours. So if you got an A in BSC2085, then the points for that class are 16. If you got a B in humanities, your points are 9. Add up your points for A&P, micro, math, DEP, humanities, english, psy, and syg. Then add what you got for your grades with your NAT and there you have it. :)

Im really getting anxious to see what the cut off is going to be. Im so ****** that I couldnt apply for spring! Is anyone else on the thread applying for summer or just me????

My grades add up to 104 points and my 3 sections added up and multiplied by .64 gives me 218. Is that correct? :o I mean Maybe I am missing something here. I use the percentile or raw score numbers?

Specializes in none.

You use the raw score. And 218 is awesome! :)
