FSCJ Fall 2014 hopefuls

Published

Hello everyone, I did not see a post for the fall 2014 semester, so I wanted to get it started. I applied to the 2014 summer semester and now I am waiting on my acceptance or denial letter. I am starting this forum just in case i do not get in for the summer. My total score right now is 169.96. I have 97 points for my classes and 72.96 points from the NAT. I am currently taking statistics and humanities, in hope of getting an A in both of them to boost my score up to 178.96. I made a C in A&P 1, my first humanities class and PSY1012. I also made a B in college algebra and that is what got my score down so low. I hope that the low cut off score trend continues to give me a good chance of getting in. The last 3 semesters were 175.96, 187 and 187. I am preparing to retake the NAT in late May to be in time for the June 1st deadline with plenty of time to study for the NAT. I look forward to meeting you all, and hear how things are going for you, so we can encourage and support one another.

I just got my letter. I did not get in with my 183.03. :/ Guess its time to study for the HESI.

Rae.B. What was your rank? Don't lose hope yet b/c if there are enough that don't accept their seats, then you still may get in. Just a thought.

I got into the Fall 2014 night class!! Anyone want to switch? I work nights currently.

email me at [email protected]

Aww no!! Yea that is true don't give up hope. That would be something I would call and ask about. If people don't accept their seat will the consider those that didn't get in this time. Where do you live by the way? I don't think my mail man has run yet but if you didn't get yours Friday and me neither and you got yours today I am thinking we might be the ones that gets theirs today.

I live in Clay so I get my mail a lot later. The letter just says all the seats have been filled. Nothing about a wait list. I will defintely have to call. What do you mean by what rank??

There is no way someone got in with a lower score than the cut off score. Clearly some people have calculated their scores incorrectly. That just does not happen. Period.

They always take 144 in the Fall and Spring, and only 96 in the Summer.

I know it is hell for those of you still waiting, but the answer will come soon and if it does not, then you go up to that school to find out ESPECIALLY if you are above the cut off score.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you cannot deal with deadlines and pressure then you better rethink going into this program or learn to roll with it. This is just a tiny glimpse into how the program and nursing in general will be. Always a deadline, not always fair, and it is up to YOU to get it done. Other priorities or obligations? Not their problem. There is always someone else out there who got a denial letter that would be willing to get this stuff done in three or four days and they'd do it with a smile on their face! A couple in my class were called with about that much time to get it done, because of students who declined their seats. Reinstatements will go in first, but it can happen for those who were below the cut off if enough decline their seats. Even still....the deadlines do not change.

I am not being harsh, and I know you all are under a lot of pressure right now, but this is not a program where you are EASED into it. You hit it full speed ahead from the moment you get that acceptance packet.

Best of luck to you all again!!! And those of you who receive denial letters, if this is what you truly want, then DO NOT GIVE UP!!! You can do it!! Study for that HESI and improve those scores!

In the letter, the first paragraph towards the bottom it tells you what your placement number was out if the 378. It gives you an idea of how many people were in front of you.

I've seen a few people post that they have a study guide for the HESI. Would someone please email that to me? [email protected]

I would also like the HESI study guide too, just in case. [email protected]

I would like a study guide also. I ordered a study guide off amazon too. Does anyone know how or were we sign up to take it? Is it similar to how you sign up for the nat?

oh! My brother opened it for me which is why I didn't see it. But I called. She said they sent out extra letters as a padding even. If you have a 183.09 or higher you should be in. I was told there were three people with 8.08 ahead of me. With the 15 extra letters, I would need 18 people to decline for me to make it in she told me.

So, instead of holding my breath, the studying shall commence. I have taken the HESI before for those who haven't and have used the study book you can get from book stores or Amazon. Personally it helped me a lot because it broke it all down. Good luck to all of you. I hope you get in :)

Also, thank you to the veterans for answering questions throughout the blog. I feel very well prepared for next semester now. I really appreciate the honesty on what to expect instead of it being sugar coated.
