FSCJ Fall 2014 hopefuls

Hello everyone, I did not see a post for the fall 2014 semester, so I wanted to get it started. I applied to the 2014 summer semester and now I am waiting on my acceptance or denial letter. I am starting this forum just in case i do not get in for the summer. My total score right now is 169.96. I have 97 points for my classes and 72.96 points from the NAT. I am currently taking statistics and humanities, in hope of getting an A in both of them to boost my score up to 178.96. I made a C in A&P 1, my first humanities class and PSY1012. I also made a B in college algebra and that is what got my score down so low. I hope that the low cut off score trend continues to give me a good chance of getting in. The last 3 semesters were 175.96, 187 and 187. I am preparing to retake the NAT in late May to be in time for the June 1st deadline with plenty of time to study for the NAT. I look forward to meeting you all, and hear how things are going for you, so we can encourage and support one another.

So we dont have to buy the white pants from them? Just the tops?

Correct, just the tops and the name badge (and the lab coat, but I've still never worn mine and I'm 4 weeks from graduation).

Thank u for that info. Do u happen to know what is the biggest size that have? If I buy a shirt and can't fit it would I be able to take it back and get another size. Btw the packet says it must be purchased at the campus book store. Is that where u all got yours?

We had to buy ours directly from the people who made them (can't remember the name), but if they have them at the bookstore that's great!! That way you'll be able to see the sizes. Just be aware that SNA may have some from precious terms for purchase at orientation which might save you money. The company that sells the polos was also at our orientation, but since they're sold in the bookstore now (from what you've said), that may not happen anymore. They do run a little snug to size.

Sure! :) there is a study guide on dosage calulations in the acceptance packages thar will prepare us for that test. We will be tested on medical terminology as well but there is not study guide ob that so I will just review over A&P and try to find some websites that as a medical terminology review.

Don't stress the test at orientation. It is just basic math and medical terminology - they just want to see where everyone is starting from. It doesn't count for a grade or anything.

I had Pharm,Techniques, Concepts, and Health Assessment notes before classes started, but I would not recommend worrying too much about that now. You're going to be hit with a lot of overwhelming information all at once. Nothing you can do now will really get you ahead or get you ready until you're there. They are good to have, and I had big plans to do all that too, but we were so busy, and some of this, well, you just need to be taught.

RELAX now before you start--you will not have much time to relax once you're in there!

Review your A&P, medical terminology, and start learning dosage calc! Dosage calc is very important and will be used from the beginning all the way until the end.

Ditto this...especially the relax part!

On the first page it gives the dates in the box, read the second date down that states August 8, 2014 and it will say you need the required confirmation of the completion of background check application and drug screen due July 25, 2014.

Ok, thank you! Now I see it. So that just means like the receipts saying we paid for it right? And then the actual results are due the 8th?

I was doing the EXACT same thing! I could not believe what I was reading. :) I was studying hard for the HESI too. I am going to continue to review over the basics of A&P b.c. I took it in the beginning of 2012 and I forgot alot of the material. Also I will be looking over the pharmocology and Nursing techniques notes I received from a friend. If anyone would like for me to send it to u let me know. if I do not already have your email make sure u give it to me and It will be my pleasure to share it with you. :)

You won't need your whites until at least 4-6 weeks into the program so if Meridy's won't ship them until September 14th then that should be fine. However, do yourselves a favor and DON'T order the pants from Meridy's!
